Purchase and delivery

How do I buy the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress?

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress can be conveniently purchased online through the Emma website.

Delivery is free to selected metropolitan areas, with the mattress delivered directly to your doorstep. Customers in some outer metropolitan and regional areas may incur an additional delivery fee depending on their location.

Our mattress arrived in a compact cardboard box, which was in good condition on arrival. Interestingly, the mattress is compressed, rolled, and folded inside the box, meaning that the packaging isn’t as long or tall as some other mattress-in-a-box products. This makes the box relatively compact for transport and handling.

Due to the size and weight of the mattress, we’d still recommend having two people available to assist with carrying and setup.

Unpacking and setup were relatively straightforward, and we didn’t notice any significant odour after removing the mattress from its packaging.

Emma recommends allowing the mattress approximately 24 hours to fully regain its shape before use.

Aesthetics and presentation

What does it look like in real life?

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress has a modern and fairly distinctive appearance, combining a white sleeping surface with contrasting dark grey side panels.

The top cover has a soft, textured finish with a subtle pattern, while dark piping creates a neat border between the upper section and the side panels. The sides feature vertical stitched detailing, along with Emma’s small orange branding label.

At approximately 25 cm high, the mattress has a relatively streamlined profile compared with some of the thicker innerspring mattresses on the market.

Overall, presentation is very good. The clean white and dark grey colour scheme looks modern and refined, while the stitching and general finish give the mattress a quality appearance.

Mattress construction

What’s inside the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress?

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress uses a six-part construction that combines several foam comfort layers with a zoned pocket spring support system.

1. CoolTec Cover

The sleeping surface uses Emma’s CoolTec Cover, which is made from polyester treated with a temperature-responsive polymer.

According to Emma, this material is designed to respond to body heat and release humidity through evaporation, helping to maintain a cooler and fresher sleeping surface.

2. Airgocell Foam

Beneath the cover sits a layer of Emma’s Airgocell foam.

This point-elastic foam has an open-cell structure designed to promote airflow and breathability, while also providing some initial cushioning and pressure relief.

3. MemoryAdapt Foam

The next layer consists of Emma’s MemoryAdapt foam, which contours to the shape of the body and helps distribute body weight across the mattress.

This layer is designed to provide additional cushioning and pressure relief, particularly around areas such as the shoulders and hips.

4. SupportBase Foam

A layer of SupportBase foam sits underneath the MemoryAdapt foam and provides a firmer transition between the upper comfort layers and the pocket spring system below.

This layer is designed to provide additional support and cushioning while preventing excessive sinkage into the mattress.

5. 5-Zone Pocket Spring System

The main support structure consists of individually pocketed springs divided into five targeted support zones.

These zones are designed to provide different levels of support across various areas of the body. The spring system is also surrounded by a foam frame, which is designed to improve stability and edge support.

6. Bottom Cover

Finally, the base of the mattress incorporates a bottom cover designed to grip the bed base.

This helps keep the mattress stable and minimise unwanted movement during use.

Comfort and support

What’s it like to sleep on the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress?

The upper comfort layers have a dense and foamy feel, although the body still sinks noticeably into the mattress and the spring system below.

This creates a reasonable level of pressure relief, although the relatively low-profile construction means that heavier people may sink quite deep into the mattress.

Emma Comfort Plus Mattress

This firmness level should suit most sleeping positions, including side, back, stomach, and combination sleepers, although individual preferences will vary.

By majority vote, our review team rated the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress as 5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.

Firmness rating

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.

Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.

We tested the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress on the Naptime Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.

The pocket spring system feels quite springy, but unfortunately, it doesn’t feel particularly robust. The mattress also struggled to hold its shape when positioned on its side during our testing, which further indicated that the spring system lacks some structural rigidity.

Emma Comfort Plus Mattress

Back support is serviceable for average-sized sleepers, although it’s certainly not outstanding. Heavier individuals (around 100 kg or more) should probably consider a more robust mattress with a stronger support system.

Responsiveness is quite good. The mattress has a noticeably bouncy character and responds quickly to normal sleep movements. To this point, we rated its responsiveness within the optimal zone.

Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

What else should I know?

Overall build quality of the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is reasonable, although we certainly wouldn’t describe it as premium. The general finish is satisfactory.

One indication of some cost-cutting is that the springs can be felt quite easily through the fabric along the sides of the mattress. The spring system itself also feels relatively flimsy and lacks the structural integrity that we’ve observed in some competing mattresses in a box, such as the Sleep Republic Mattress and Eva Mattress.

There are two vertical handles on each side of the mattress. These handles are relatively thin, but they are still a useful inclusion and should make rotating and repositioning the mattress easier.

The top cover is removable and washable, with access provided by a large zip around the mattress. The zip feels reasonably sturdy and operates well, while the Emma-branded zip pull is a nice finishing touch.

Edge support is somewhat disappointing. Despite the foam reinforcement around the spring system, the perimeter still feels relatively soft and compresses noticeably when sitting or lying near the edge.

The springy nature of the mattress contributes positively to its responsiveness, although there is some noticeable motion transfer between sleeping partners. Partner disturbance shouldn’t be considered excessive, but movement across the mattress is certainly detectable.

The CoolTec Cover felt relatively cool during our assessment, and we didn’t notice any abnormal heat retention. As always, sleeping temperature will vary between individuals and is influenced by a range of factors beyond the mattress itself.

Finally, we couldn’t find any third-party certifications relating specifically to non-toxic materials, health standards, or environmental standards for the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress.

Bed base compatibility

What type of bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress to be used on a bed base with solid slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.

Ecosa Haven Bed FrameEcosa Haven Bed Frame

We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.

We don’t recommend the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.

Trial period and warranty

What happens if I don’t like it?

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress comes with a 150-night trial period, giving customers plenty of time to test the mattress at home.

Emma recommends trying the mattress for at least 14 nights to allow your body some time to adjust. If you’re not satisfied during the trial period, the mattress can be returned for a refund.

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is also covered by a 10-year warranty against defects resulting from faulty materials or workmanship.

As always, the trial period and warranty are subject to Emma’s full terms and conditions.

Available sizes

What size options are available?

The Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is available in 5 Australian mattress sizes (king, queen, double, king single, and single size) so it should accommodate most sleeping arrangements.

The graphic below includes all of Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2026. Please note again that the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is only available in 5 of these sizes.

Did you know?

Emma Sleep is over 10 years old

Emma Sleep was founded in Germany in 2015 and has since developed into one of the world’s largest mattress brands. Its products are now sold across numerous countries, with the company offering an extensive range of mattresses, bed frames, pillows, and other sleep products.

Final verdict

Is this the right mattress for you?

Overall, the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is a reasonably comfortable innerspring mattress, but it’s probably not one of Emma’s better offerings.

Its dense, foamy comfort layers provide a reasonable level of pressure relief, and the mattress has good responsiveness. For average-sized sleepers, it should provide a serviceable level of comfort and support.

Our main concern is the pocket spring system, which feels somewhat cheap and flimsy compared with several competing mattresses in a box. This also affects the overall stability, edge support, and sense of quality.

For this reason, we wouldn’t recommend the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress for heavier sleepers (around 100 kg or more), who would be better served by a mattress with a more robust support system.

Overall, the Emma Comfort Plus Mattress is a serviceable option, but there are more impressive mattresses available in this price range.
