Purchase and delivery
How do I buy the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress can be purchased online through the Origin website, with delivery available to most locations across Australia.
Origin offers free delivery to metropolitan areas, with next-business-day delivery available in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth for eligible orders. Delivery to Brisbane generally takes 3–5 business days, while regional deliveries typically take longer.
Some regional and rural deliveries attract a flat delivery fee of $175, and certain remote locations are excluded. Customers can enter their postcode at checkout to confirm delivery costs and estimated timeframes.
Our review sample arrived compressed and rolled in a cardboard box. Unfortunately, the box wasn’t in particularly good condition, with some damage to the top and untidy flaps and openings. The packaging appeared rather poorly assembled and didn’t create a particularly good first impression. Thankfully, the mattress itself was undamaged.
A small information booklet was attached to the inside of the box, which was a nice touch and a useful addition to the unboxing experience.
Aesthetics and presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress has a modern appearance, with a thick, quilted top comfort layer and a contrasting white and dark navy blue colour scheme.
The top cover has an attractive, cloud-like quilting pattern and a soft, smooth finish. The dark navy blue side panels feature the Origin branding and a decorative product label, giving the mattress a distinctive appearance.

Although Origin advertises a height of 33cm, our review sample measured just under 32cm. The promotional images also give the impression of a particularly thick, substantial mattress, whereas the actual product has a slightly less imposing profile.
Overall, the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress presents well aesthetically, although its appearance and height are somewhat less impressive in person than the promotional images might suggest.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress features a sophisticated construction, combining multiple foam comfort layers with two separate pocket spring systems.
According to Origin, the mattress incorporates the following 11 components:
1. ArcticSilk Cover
A soft, silky outer fabric designed to help dissipate heat and maintain a comfortable sleeping surface.

2. PureCloud Wool
A breathable Australian wool blend designed to assist with moisture management and temperature regulation.
3. Blissé Soothing Foam
A memory foam comfort layer designed to contour to the body and provide pressure relief.
4. PolarPlush Cooling Foam
An open-cell foam layer designed to improve breathability and airflow.
5. HexaGrid™ Ultra Ortho Layer
A specialised comfort layer designed to disperse heat and provide additional pressure relief.
6. AirSpring Micro Coils
A layer of individually encased micro coils designed to provide responsive cushioning, body contouring, and airflow.
7. AstroLift Gel Matrix
A hyper-elastic gel matrix designed to provide additional pressure relief and targeted lumbar support.
8. AlignFlex Transition Foam
A transitional foam layer designed to provide cushioning, stability, and separation from the main spring system.
9. ErgoCoil™ Alignment System
A 7-zone pocket spring support system featuring individually wrapped, foam-capped springs, designed to provide targeted support across different areas of the body.
10. EdgeGuard Stability
Reinforced foam encasement around the perimeter of the mattress, designed to improve edge support and stability.
11. LuxeMove Handles
Integrated side handles designed to make moving and rotating the mattress easier.
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress has a smooth, silky top cover that feels pleasant to touch. While the finish isn’t particularly sophisticated, it still provides a comfortable and inviting sleeping surface.
The thick comfort layers have a relatively dense feel but offer plenty of pressure relief. There is a slight sinking sensation, particularly for heavier sleepers, who are likely to compress the comfort layers more deeply.
During our testing, we rated the firmness at 5.5/10 (with 10 being the firmest), placing it in the medium category. This makes it noticeably softer than the previous version and potentially suitable for most sleeping positions, including side, back and stomach sleeping.
However, suitability will vary depending on body weight and individual preferences.
Firmness rating

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress on the Sleep Republic Deluxe Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
The main pocket spring system provides a reasonable level of support, although the mattress doesn’t feel quite as solid or robust as the previous model. It’s difficult to determine whether this is due to the change in the spring system itself or simply the thicker, softer comfort layers.
Either way, the overall support feels less substantial than before, although it remains satisfactory.
Responsiveness is quite good and falls within our optimal range. The mattress responds well to normal body movements, allowing sleepers to change positions without too much difficulty.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress has a respectable level of build quality, although it doesn’t feel quite as premium as the previous version or as we might expect at this price point. The side fabric feels relatively inexpensive, although there is some padding around the perimeter, meaning the springs aren’t easily felt through the sides.
The mattress includes two large vertical handles on each side, which appear securely attached and should be useful when moving or rotating the mattress.
Edge support is somewhat disappointing, with noticeable compression when sitting or lying near the perimeter. This was also a weakness of the previous version, although the softer feel of the current model makes it particularly noticeable.

Partner disturbance is present but not excessive, so movement from a restless partner shouldn’t be a major issue for most couples. As always, motion transfer will depend on the size of the occupants and the mattress itself.
We didn’t notice any abnormal heat retention during testing, although sleeping temperature is complex and can be influenced by several factors, including bedding, room temperature, and individual preferences.
According to Origin, the foams used in the LumbarCloud Mattress are CertiPUR-US® certified, indicating that they meet specified standards for chemical content, emissions, and durability. Origin also highlights its use of sustainable materials and its support for reforestation initiatives through Ecologi.
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress to be used on a bed base with rigid slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.
We don’t recommend the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress comes with a 120-night trial period, allowing customers to test the mattress in the comfort of their own home.
Customers must sleep on the mattress for at least 25 days before requesting a return. If the mattress isn’t suitable, Origin can arrange for collection through its charity partner, Salvos, with free returns available in metro areas. Once the mattress has been collected, Origin states that refunds are processed within 7–14 business days.
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress also comes with a 15-year warranty, covering manufacturing defects such as visible indentations greater than 2.54cm and structural defects that cause the foam to split or crack under normal use.
The warranty does not cover normal softening of the foam, personal comfort preferences, accidental damage, stains, or damage caused by an unsuitable bed base. Origin determines whether a repair or replacement is appropriate for eligible warranty claims.

Final verdict
Is this the right mattress for you?
The Origin LumbarCloud Mattress is a comfortable, medium-feel mattress with a sophisticated design and good pressure relief. Its softer comfort layers should appeal to a wide range of sleepers, particularly those who prefer a little more cushioning.
However, despite its impressive construction, the overall comfort and support don’t quite live up to our expectations. The spring system feels less robust than we would have liked, and edge support is disappointing.
Overall, the Origin LumbarCloud Mattress is a decent option in the medium-feel category, but we feel it has more potential. While the previous version was noticeably firmer, we preferred its overall balance of comfort, support and stability.
