Purchase and delivery

How do I buy the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress is available to purchase online through the Origin website, with a straightforward and easy-to-navigate checkout process.

Origin provides fast and free delivery to major metro areas such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth. For eligible locations, next-business-day delivery is often available if orders are placed before the daily cut-off time, which is a strong convenience factor. Customers also have the option to select a preferred delivery date during checkout.

For customers outside of metro areas, delivery times generally range from 3 to 8 business days. Some regional and rural locations may attract an additional delivery fee, depending on the postcode and transport requirements.

Our mattress arrived in good condition, with the packaging intact. As with most mattresses in a box, we recommend having two people available for setup, as the box can be quite bulky. It’s also worth considering packaging disposal in advance, as there can be a moderate amount of material to deal with.

Once unpacked, the mattress begins expanding straight away. While it can be used within a few hours, we recommend allowing up to 48 hours for full expansion.

Aesthetics and presentation

What does the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress look like?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress presents with a clean, contemporary design that feels a step up from the standard model.

The mattress features a crisp white top panel paired with deep charcoal side panels, creating a sharp contrast that gives it a more premium and refined appearance. The overall look is modern and understated, allowing it to blend easily into a wide range of bedroom styles without drawing too much attention.

Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress

At 30cm in height, the mattress sits within the typical range for an innerspring mattress, giving it a well-balanced and substantial profile on most bed bases. In terms of finish, the mattress appears well put together, with neat stitching, subtle branding, and a structured form that holds its shape nicely.

Mattress construction

What’s inside the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress is an innerspring mattress that features a more advanced, multi-layered construction compared to the standard Hybrid model.

It incorporates a combination of cooling fabrics, comfort foams, and spring systems, along with a dual-sided design that allows users to tailor both temperature and firmness.

1. Dual-Season Washable Cover (ThermaTENCEL™ / ArcticSilk)

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress features a dual-season, flippable cover that allows you to tailor the sleep surface to suit different conditions.

One side uses a TENCEL™ blend, offering a soft, breathable feel for more balanced, all-season comfort. The reverse side incorporates a cool-to-touch performance fabric designed for warmer conditions and hot sleepers.

The cover can be unzipped, flipped, and fully machine washed, which is a standout feature in terms of practicality, hygiene, and long-term usability.

Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress

2. PureWool Climate Layer

A wool blend layer that helps regulate temperature by insulating in cooler conditions while also allowing excess heat to dissipate when needed.

3. CloudLux Cushioning

A plush foam layer that provides immediate comfort and gentle pressure relief without excessive sink.

4. HexaGrid™ Plus Ortho Layer

Part of the adjustable comfort system, this structured layer is designed to provide targeted pressure relief and support, particularly around key areas like the shoulders and hips.

5. AlignFlex Recovery Layer

An alternative side of the adjustable comfort layer, featuring open-celled foam designed to enhance airflow and provide a slightly more forgiving, medium-firm feel.

6. Bamboo-Charcoal Cooling Foam

A breathable foam layer infused with bamboo charcoal, intended to assist with airflow, freshness, and moisture control.

7. AirSpring Microcoil Layer

A layer of small, responsive springs that help improve contouring, airflow, and reduce partner disturbance.

8. 7-Zone Calibrated ErgoCoil™ Core

The main support system features a 7-zone pocket spring core paired with a layer of responsive micro springs, creating a dual-spring architecture.

This setup is designed to deliver more precise, contoured support across different areas of the body, particularly through the lumbar region.

The layered spring system also helps promote airflow and reduce motion transfer, contributing to a cooler and more stable sleep surface. Overall, it’s a well-considered support system that balances alignment, comfort, and responsiveness.

9. Reinforced Stability Base System

A high-density base layer that supports the overall structure, with added edge reinforcement, an anti-slip finish, and built-in handles for easier handling.

Firmness adjustment

How does the customisation work?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress arrives in its default configuration with the firm side (HexaGrid™ Plus Ortho Layer)  facing up. For many users, this setup will be suitable straight out of the box, so no adjustments will be necessary.

If you do want to modify the feel, the top cover can be unzipped to access the internal comfort layer. From here, you can flip the adjustable comfort layer so that the AlignFlex Recovery Layer sits on top, creating a slightly softer, medium-firm sleep surface.

The internal comfort layer is clearly labelled with “Firm” and “Medium-Firm” sides, which is a helpful touch when adjusting the configuration.

This customisable design gives users the flexibility to choose between a firm and medium-firm configuration, depending on personal preference.

In addition to firmness adjustment, the cover itself is also reversible. The default set-up involves the soft, breathable TENCEL™ blend facing upwards, while the reverse side offers a cool-to-touch performance fabric designed for warmer conditions.

Overall, this dual customisation approach allows you to tailor both the feel and temperature of the mattress to suit your needs.

Comfort and support

What’s it like to sleep on the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress?

As we touched on above, the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress features a dual-sided cover that allows you to tailor the surface feel.

The default TENCEL™ blend side feels soft, breathable, and comfortable against the skin, while the reverse side has a noticeably cooler, smoother feel with a slightly more slippery texture. Both options work well, but we generally preferred the default TENCEL™ side for its softer, more natural feel.

In its default configuration, the HexaGrid™ Plus Ortho layer sits on top, which is the firmer setup. This delivers a comfortable, supportive feel that absorbs body weight evenly without excessive sink.

This setup should suit most sleeping positions – side, back, and stomach – although individual preferences will always vary. We rated this configuration a 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).

Firm configuration

When the internal comfort layer is flipped, the AlignFlex Recovery layer becomes the top surface, creating a slightly softer, medium-firm feel.

In practice, the difference is noticeable but not substantial – which is fairly typical for adjustable designs like this.

We rated this configuration around a 6.5 out of 10 and should suit most sleeping positions.

Medium-firm configuration

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.

Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.

We tested the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress on the Porto Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.

The spring system is responsive and performs well overall, providing a stable base of support that should be more than adequate for most sleepers.

In terms of responsiveness, the mattress sits in a strong position. The default (firmer) configuration felt particularly lively and easy to move on.

Responsiveness: firm configuration

We found the medium-firm setup remained responsive, just slightly less so.

Responsiveness: medium-firm configuration

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

What else should I know?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress holds its own in terms of overall build quality, particularly in the context of its price point.

Stitching and finishings are neat, and the materials feel durable and well assembled. We also liked the fabric used over the flippable comfort layer, which felt soft, smooth, and almost silky to the touch. The zip system is well designed – it’s large, easy to grip, and runs smoothly, provided the cover is kept taut while zipping.

The mattress includes two vertically positioned side handles, which appear securely attached and offer ample room for larger hands. These make moving or rotating the mattress more manageable.

In terms of performance, partner disturbance was present but not excessive, and should be manageable for most sleepers unless particularly sensitive to movement. As expected, this will vary depending on mattress size and body weight, with larger sizes generally performing better in this regard.

Edge support is decent and within normal limits – not overly firm, but stable enough for sitting and sleeping near the edge.

Origin also incorporates a range of eco-conscious materials into this mattress.

Temperature regulation performed well in our testing, with no noticeable heat retention. The ArcticSilk cooling surface in particular delivered a noticeably cool feel. That said, it’s worth noting that using sheets and a mattress protector may reduce some of this cooling effect in practical use.

Origin also incorporates a range of eco-conscious materials into this mattress. These include TENCEL™ derived from sustainably sourced eucalyptus, Suprelle® Blue fibres made from ocean-bound plastic, and organic textiles.

The foams are CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning they have been tested to be free from harmful chemicals, which is a reassuring inclusion for health and environmental considerations.

Bed base compatibility

What type of bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress to be used on a bed base with flat panel slats such as the Koala Paddington Bed Base.

A bed base with solid slats such as the Sleep Republic Deluxe Bed Base, would also be very suitable.

Koala Paddington Bed Base

We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will void the mattress warranty.

We don’t recommend the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this may cause damage to the mattress components. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.

Trial period and warranty

What happens if I don’t like it?

Origin offers a 120-night trial period with the Hybrid Pro, which is slightly more generous than the industry standard.

This gives you ample time to properly assess the mattress at home and allow your body to adjust. The trial begins once the mattress has been delivered, and customers are generally encouraged to use it for at least a few weeks before deciding if it’s right for them.

If it doesn’t suit your needs, the return process is relatively straightforward. Origin will arrange collection in eligible metro areas, often working with a charity partner to ensure the mattress is donated where possible. Once the return is completed, refunds are typically processed within 7 to 14 business days.

The mattress is also backed by a 15-year warranty, which provides coverage for manufacturing defects such as significant indentations (greater than 2.5cm) and structural issues under normal use.

As expected, this does not cover general wear and tear, changes in comfort preference, or damage caused by improper use or unsuitable bed bases.

Available sizes

What size options are available?

This mattress is available in 5 sizes (king, queen, double, king single, and single) so it should accommodate most sleeping arrangements.

The graphic below includes all of Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2026. Again please note that the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress is available in 5 of these sizes.

Final verdict

Should I buy the Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress?

The Origin Hybrid Pro Mattress is a thoughtfully designed product that offers a good balance of comfort, support, and practical features. The dual-season, flippable cover is a standout inclusion, giving users the flexibility to adjust the sleep surface depending on personal preference and temperature needs.

The adjustable comfort layer also adds a level of customisation, allowing you to switch between a firm and medium-firm feel. While the difference between the two configurations is not dramatic, it still provides a useful option for fine-tuning comfort.

Overall, the mattress feels well balanced, with solid comfort and support across both configurations. When combined with a 120-night trial period and a competitive overall package, we feel Origin has done a commendable job with this model.
