Purchase and delivery
How do I buy the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress?
The Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress can be ordered online through the Sleepcenter Beds website and delivered to your home.
Alternatively, it can be purchased directly from the Sleepcenter Beds Melbourne store at 96 Frankston-Dandenong Road, Dandenong South VIC 3175.
Delivery costs appear to vary depending on location. Sleepcenter Beds lists indicative rates including Melbourne from $45, Sydney from $55, Brisbane from $60, and the Gold Coast from $80. However, when we entered several addresses into the online checkout, including locations in Sydney and Perth, delivery was displayed as free.
We’d therefore recommend entering your address at checkout to confirm the delivery fee for your location.
If you order online, the mattress arrives vacuum packed and rolled inside a compact cardboard box. Our box arrived in fair condition, and despite the mattress being relatively heavy, the compact packaging made it reasonably easy to manoeuvre.
Unpacking was straightforward and took us around 5–10 minutes. We’d recommend having two people available to move and unpack the mattress safely.
Once removed from its packaging, we allowed ours approximately 24 hours to decompress before commencing our assessment.
Aesthetics and presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress has a fairly traditional mattress appearance, with a dark charcoal colour scheme and contrasting white detailing. The sleeping surfaces feature a patterned, tufted finish, while the side panels have neat horizontal stitching and Sleepcenter Beds branding.

As this is a dual-sided mattress, both sides have a similar Euro top presentation. Handy labels on the side clearly identify the “Medium” and “Firm” surfaces, so it’s easy to tell which side you are using.
Overall, the mattress presents reasonably well for its budget price point, with a solid and practical finish.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress?
The Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress uses a dual-sided construction, with comfort layers on both sides of a central pocket spring system. This allows the mattress to be flipped between its Medium and Firm sleeping surfaces.
1. Jacquard Knitted Fabric
Both sleeping surfaces are finished with a 450gsm jacquard knitted fabric. The fabric has a soft, textured finish and forms the outer surface of the Euro top design on each side of the mattress.

2. Comfort layers
The mattress contains foam comfort layers on both sides of the pocket spring system. These incorporate soft foam, support foam, and higher-density hard foam, with the combination adjusted to create the different Medium and Firm feels.
The softer foams provide cushioning and pressure relief, while the support and hard foams add structure and help prevent the mattress from feeling overly soft.
3. 5-Zone Pocket Spring System
At the centre of the mattress is a 16cm deep, 5-zone pocket spring system. The individually pocketed springs are designed to provide targeted support across different areas of the body while also helping to minimise partner disturbance.
The main spring system uses 2.0mm wire, with thicker 2.2mm wire used around the perimeter for additional edge support. According to Sleepcenter Beds, the springs are made from high-carbon steel and are twice tempered to improve strength and long-term durability.
Firmness adjustments
How does the customisation work?
One of the standout features of the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress is its dual-sided design, allowing users to choose between a Medium feel and a Firm feel.
Unlike many adjustable mattresses that require users to unzip the cover and rearrange internal comfort layers, this mattress takes a much simpler approach. To change the firmness, users simply flip the mattress over and sleep on the opposite side.
We found this to be a practical and user-friendly design. Each side is also clearly labelled “Medium” or “Firm”, making it easy to identify the desired sleeping surface. Due to the size and weight of the mattress, we would recommend two people when flipping it.
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress?
The jacquard knitted cover feels surprisingly nice considering the relatively budget price point of this mattress. It has a soft, comfortable finish and gives the sleeping surface a more premium feel than we expected.
Firm Side
The Firm side has a dense and slightly spongy feel. Although it is certainly firm, it still provides a nice level of comfort and absorbs body weight in a smooth and even manner.
This side should be particularly well suited to back sleepers who prefer a firmer and more supportive sleeping surface. It may also accommodate some side and stomach sleepers, although individual comfort preferences and body types will vary.
By majority vote, we rated the Firm side as 8 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Firm Side

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress on the Naptime Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
Medium Side
The Medium side has a similar overall character to the Firm side, but with noticeably more softness and cushioning. It absorbs body weight smoothly and offers a comfortable, balanced feel without feeling overly soft.
With its more moderate firmness, this side should accommodate a wide range of sleeping positions, including side, back, and stomach sleepers. As always, suitability will depend on individual body type and comfort preferences.
By majority vote, we rated the Medium side as 6 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Medium Side

Overall, the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress feels surprisingly stable and solid considering its budget price point. The 5-zone pocket spring system provides good back support and should offer adequate stability for sleepers across most body sizes.
At 30cm high, the mattress also has a substantial profile that is typical of many modern innerspring mattresses. It certainly doesn’t feel noticeably thin or lacking in support despite its relatively affordable price.
Responsiveness is another strong point. The mattress responds nicely to normal sleep movements, making it easy to change sleeping positions without feeling restricted by the comfort layers. To this point, we rated its responsiveness in the optimal zone.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
Overall build quality is commendable, particularly considering the relatively affordable price point.
The materials, stitching, and finishings are all reasonably well executed, with no obvious deficiencies that we could identify during our assessment. While it doesn’t have the premium presentation of more expensive mattresses, it certainly doesn’t feel excessively cheap or poorly made.
The mattress features four vertically positioned side handles that feel securely attached and should be easy for most people to use. These are particularly useful given the dual-sided design, although Sleepcenter Beds advises that the handles should only be used to position the mattress rather than carry its full weight.
Edge support is quite serviceable, with the Firm side naturally feeling a little more stable around the perimeter than the Medium side. The reinforced pocket springs around the edges help maintain a reasonably supportive sleeping surface across most of the mattress.
Motion isolation is also good. Some movement is noticeable across the mattress, but we wouldn’t consider partner disturbance to be significant. As always, motion transfer will depend on factors such as the size and weight of each sleeper, as well as the size of the mattress itself.
Finally, at the time of writing, we couldn’t find any recognised third-party health or non-toxic certifications listed for the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress.
Other details
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress to be used on a supportive bed base with solid, flat slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.
Sleepcenter Beds specifically states that if a slatted bed base is used, the slats must be solid and flat with gaps of no more than 8cm. Using a slatted base with wider gaps may void the mattress warranty.
We would also advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats. Sleepcenter Beds specifically states that flexible slat bases are not suitable for its pocket sprung mattresses and that using one will void the warranty.
We don’t recommend the Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress does not come with a traditional in-home trial period.
Sleepcenter Beds does offer a returns policy, however the mattress must remain unused and unopened in its original packaging to be eligible for a return. Once opened or used, change of mind or comfort preference is not covered.
The mattress is backed by a 5-year limited warranty for the original purchaser, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. This includes visible indentations greater than 4.5cm where these have not resulted from misuse or an unsuitable foundation.
If an eligible defect occurs, Sleepcenter Beds may replace the mattress with a new mattress of equal value. Any applicable transport or shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Final verdict
Is this the right mattress for you?
The Orthopedic Euro Top Flip Pocket Sprung Mattress is an impressive mattress for its relatively low price point. It performs well across the key areas we assess, offering good comfort, solid back support, respectable build quality, and good motion isolation.
Its dual-sided design is a particular highlight, allowing users to simply flip the mattress between noticeably different Medium and Firm feels. We find this approach easier and more practical than mattresses that require internal foam layers to be rearranged.
Overall, we commend Sleepcenter Beds on delivering such a capable mattress at this price point. It would make an excellent choice for a guest room, while still being more than serviceable for regular, everyday use.
