Purchase and delivery
How do I buy the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress can be purchased directly from the Emma Sleep website and is delivered compressed in a box to simplify transport and handling.
Given the weight of the mattress, particularly in the larger sizes, we recommend having two people available to assist with moving and unpacking. Once unboxed, the mattress expands quickly, although we recommend allowing up to 24 hours before commencing use or testing.
Our mattress arrived well packaged and in excellent condition, with the packaging providing good protection during transit.
Emma offers free delivery to many metropolitan locations throughout Australia. For customers living in some outer metropolitan and regional areas, delivery generally takes a little longer and a non-refundable delivery fee of $79 or $160 may apply, depending on the delivery location.
As part of our standard testing process, we allowed the mattress to fully expand for 24 hours before carrying out our assessment.
Aesthetics and presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress has a clean, modern appearance that gives it a premium feel. The white sleep surface contrasts nicely against the darker side panels and piping, creating a simple yet sophisticated design that should complement most bedroom styles.
One of the more distinctive design features is the subtle Emma branding stitched into the sleep surface. Rather than appearing plain, the repeated Emma logo pattern gives the cover a little more character and presence while maintaining an understated look.
At 26cm high, the Emma Luxe ThermoCool has a well-balanced profile that sits comfortably between lower-profile foam mattresses and thicker pillow top designs. The overall finishings are neatly executed, with quality stitching, clean panel alignment, and a well-tailored appearance that reflects the mattress’s premium positioning.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress is an innerspring mattress that combines multiple comfort foams with a zoned pocket spring support system.
Its layered design places a strong emphasis on cooling, pressure relief, responsive support, and long-term durability.
1. PolarLuxe™ Cooling Cover
The PolarLuxe™ Cooling Cover is designed to feel cool and soft to the touch. Its breathable knit fabric and micro-dot design help encourage airflow around the sleeping surface, creating a fresher and more comfortable sleeping environment.
2. ThermoSync™ Graphite-Infused Foam
Positioned directly beneath the cover is Emma’s ThermoSync™ foam, which is infused with graphite to help draw excess heat away from the body. This layer is designed to assist with temperature regulation and maintain a more balanced sleeping climate throughout the night.
3. MemoryAdapt™ Comfort Foam
The MemoryAdapt™ foam layer provides the primary source of pressure relief and body contouring. It cushions the body’s natural curves while distributing weight more evenly, creating a comfortable and adaptive sleeping surface.
4. SupportBase Foam
Beneath the comfort layers sits a supportive transition foam that helps ease pressure points while providing a smooth transition into the spring support system. This layer contributes to overall stability and helps prevent excessive sinkage.
5. 7-Zone Pocket Spring System
The mattress core features individually wrapped pocket springs arranged into seven ergonomic support zones. These springs provide responsive support, reduce partner disturbance, and are surrounded by a reinforced foam perimeter to improve edge support and maximise the usable sleeping surface.
6. SupportBase Foundation Foam
A second SupportBase foam layer sits beneath the pocket springs, providing a stable foundation for the mattress. This layer helps maintain the structural integrity of the mattress while contributing to its overall durability.
7. Non-Slip Base Cover
The base of the mattress features a non-slip fabric designed to help keep the mattress securely positioned on the bed base while enhancing overall stability during use.
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress has a comfortable, smooth feel that gently cushions the body while distributing body weight evenly across the sleeping surface.
This creates a balanced sleeping experience that feels both supportive and pressure relieving. It should suit many side sleepers, but as always, comfort preferences will vary between individuals.
By majority vote, we rated the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress as 5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Firmness rating

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress on the Naptime Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
Overall, we found the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress to provide good back support. The seven-zone pocket spring system feels noticeably more solid and supportive than many of the other Emma mattresses we’ve tested, creating a stable sleeping surface that should suit most body types and sleeping positions.
The mattress also responds well to movement. We rated the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress within the optimal responsiveness zone, meaning most sleepers should find it easy to change sleeping positions throughout the night without feeling restricted by the mattress.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
Overall, the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress is well constructed, with good-quality materials, neat stitching, and finishings that give it a reassuringly premium feel. Nothing about the mattress felt cheap, and the overall presentation reflects its position within Emma’s higher-end range.
The mattress features four vertically positioned side handles that are strong, well stitched, and provide plenty of room for your hands. This makes lifting, rotating, and transporting the mattress considerably easier.
Motion isolation is good. The pocket spring system does a good job of minimising partner disturbance, so a restless partner is unlikely to cause significant disruption during the night. Naturally, the amount of movement transferred will vary depending on factors such as the size and weight of each sleeper, as well as the size of the mattress.
We also found the cooling performance to be good. The PolarLuxe™ Cooling Cover feels pleasantly cool to the touch, and we didn’t notice any abnormal heat retention during our testing. As with all mattresses, however, sleeping temperature will vary between individuals and is influenced by a range of factors beyond the mattress itself.
Edge support is good without being exceptional. Most users should be able to comfortably utilise the majority of the sleeping surface, although some compression is noticeable when sitting or lying right on the edge.
It’s also worth noting that, at the time of writing, we were unable to find any recognised health or non-toxic certifications listed for the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress on the Emma Sleep Australia website.
Other details
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress to be used on a bed base with solid slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.
We don’t recommend the Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress comes with a generous 150-night trial period, giving customers plenty of time to experience the mattress in their own home.
Emma notes that it can take several weeks for your body to fully adjust to a new mattress, so the extended trial allows you to make a well-informed decision. If the mattress isn’t the right fit, Emma will arrange the return process in accordance with its trial policy.
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress is backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, providing protection against manufacturing defects and faulty workmanship. As with all mattress warranties, the coverage is subject to Emma’s warranty terms and conditions, so it’s worth reviewing these before making your purchase.

Final verdict
Is this the right mattress for you?
The Emma Luxe ThermoCool Mattress is a comfortable and well-designed innerspring mattress that offers a balanced combination of pressure relief, support, and cooling performance. Its seven-zone pocket spring system provides a stable sleeping surface, while the thoughtful comfort layers help create a smooth and relaxing sleep experience.
At 26cm high, the mattress has a relatively low profile compared with many premium innerspring mattresses. This not only gives it a streamlined appearance but also makes it easier to handle and move than some of its thicker, heavier competitors.
