Purchase and delivery
How do I buy the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress?
The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress can be conveniently ordered online through the Ecosa website and delivered to most areas across Australia.
As with many modern mattresses, the TrueFirm arrives compressed and boxed for easier transportation and setup. Given its substantial weight, particularly in larger sizes, we recommend having two people available to assist with moving and unpacking the mattress.
Ecosa offers free delivery to many metropolitan areas across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. In eligible metro locations, next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before 11:59pm on weekdays, subject to stock availability and delivery capacity.
Our mattress arrived in excellent condition and was well protected throughout transit. The packaging itself is well designed, with built-in wheels and a carry handle helping to make manoeuvring the boxed mattress considerably easier than many competing products.
Unpacking was straightforward and took approximately 5–10 minutes. As part of our normal testing process, we allowed the mattress 24 hours to fully expand before commencing our assessment.
Ecosa also offers an optional Premium Delivery service in selected metropolitan areas. This service includes delivery, setup, assembly, and rubbish removal for added convenience.
For customers located outside major metropolitan regions, delivery times and charges may vary depending on location. Some regional areas may attract an additional delivery fee.
Aesthetics and presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress has a clean and contemporary appearance that aligns well with the broader Ecosa product range. The white sleep surface contrasts nicely against the dark grey side panels, creating a modern and understated look.
At 25cm high, the TrueFirm has a relatively streamlined profile, while the quilted sleep surface gives it a more traditional mattress appearance than many mattress-in-a-box competitors.
The overall finishings are neat and well executed, with quality stitching and practical side handles positioned around the mattress perimeter.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress?
The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress is a dual-sided innerspring mattress that allows sleepers to choose between a Firm and Extra Firm feel simply by flipping the mattress.
Its construction combines natural Dunlop latex, supportive comfort foams, and a heavy-duty pocket spring system to create a highly supportive sleep surface focused on spinal alignment and durability.
1. Tencel™ Cover (Firm Side)
The Firm side of the mattress features a breathable cover made from a blend of Tencel™ fibres and recycled polyester. This cover is designed to provide a soft and comfortable sleep surface while assisting with moisture regulation and airflow.

2. Contour Foam
Beneath the cover sits a layer of contour foam designed to provide pressure relief while helping the mattress adapt to the shape of the body. This layer also contributes to the overall comfort of the Firm side.
3. Natural Dunlop Latex
The TrueFirm incorporates a layer of natural Dunlop latex which provides responsive comfort, durability, and enhanced breathability. Latex is also naturally hypoallergenic and helps promote airflow through the mattress.
4. Firm Support Foam
Positioned above the spring system, this layer helps distribute body weight more evenly while providing additional support and pressure relief around key areas such as the shoulders and hips.
5. 5 Zone Pocket Spring System
At the centre of the mattress sits a heavy-duty pocket spring system featuring five ergonomic support zones. These individually wrapped springs are designed to provide targeted support, promote spinal alignment, minimise partner disturbance, and improve airflow throughout the mattress.
6. Extra Firm Support Foam
On the reverse side of the mattress is a denser support foam layer designed to create the mattress’s Extra Firm comfort option. This layer provides a more stable and supportive feel with less cushioning than the Firm side.
7. Tencel™ Cover (Extra Firm Side)
The Extra Firm side is finished with the same breathable Tencel™ and recycled polyester cover, allowing sleepers to comfortably use either side of the mattress depending on their firmness preference.
Firmness adjustments
How does the customisation work?
One of the standout features of the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress is its dual-sided design, allowing users to choose between a Firm feel and an Extra Firm feel.
Unlike many adjustable mattresses that require users to unzip the cover and rearrange internal comfort layers, the TrueFirm takes a much simpler approach. To change the firmness, users simply flip the mattress over and sleep on the opposite side.
We found this to be a practical and user-friendly design. While larger mattress sizes will likely require two people to safely flip the mattress, the process is considerably simpler than adjusting internal mattress layers and reassembling the mattress cover.
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress?
Firm Version
As expected, the Firm side of the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress delivers a distinctly firm feel, although it retains enough cushioning to remain comfortable. While certainly supportive, it avoids feeling excessively hard and strikes a nice balance between firmness and comfort.
This configuration should suit many back sleepers, while some side sleepers and stomach sleepers may also find it comfortable. As always, comfort preferences will vary between individuals.
By majority vote, we rated it as 8 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Firm Version

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress on the Porto Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
Extra-Firm Version
The Extra Firm side delivers a noticeably firmer sleeping surface with very little cushioning or sinkage. It feels stable, supportive, and unmistakably firm throughout.
This configuration is likely to appeal primarily to sleepers seeking maximum support, particularly many back sleepers, although individual comfort preferences will naturally vary.
By majority vote, we rated it as 9 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Extra-Firm Version

Overall back support on the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress appears excellent. The heavy-duty pocket spring system creates a strong and stable sleep surface that should comfortably accommodate sleepers of most body types.
The robust support system is also reflected in the overall weight of the mattress. Despite its relatively modest 25cm profile, the TrueFirm is a surprisingly substantial mattress, suggesting a durable and supportive internal construction.
The mattress also feels highly responsive, making it easy to change sleeping positions without restriction. To this point, we rated the responsiveness of the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress as optimal. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
The overall build quality of the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress is commendable. The materials, stitching, and finishings all appear well executed, resulting in a mattress that feels durable and thoughtfully constructed.
The mattress includes four vertically positioned side handles (two on each side), making it easier to manoeuvre, rotate, and flip. While the hand opening is not particularly large, the handles themselves are securely attached with strong reinforced stitching and inspire confidence when lifting the mattress.
Motion isolation is generally very good. The pocket spring system effectively minimises movement transfer across the mattress, so restless partners should cause minimal disturbance during the night.
Edge support is also impressive, allowing users to comfortably sit or sleep close to the perimeter while making full use of the mattress surface.
The foams used in the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress are CertiPUR-US® certified, while the fabric materials are certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). These independent certifications provide additional reassurance regarding material quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Other details
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress to be used on a bed base with solid slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.
We don’t recommend the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress comes with a 100 night trial period, allowing customers to test the mattress in their own home and return it if it is not suitable.
Ecosa recommends sleeping on the mattress for at least 14 nights before making a decision, as it can take time for the body to adjust to a new sleep surface. If a return is requested, Ecosa will generally arrange collection through one of its charity partners, with returned mattresses typically donated rather than sent to landfill.
Some conditions do apply. Customers must retain proof of purchase, and returned mattresses must be free from stains, mould, odours, bed bugs, or other damage.
The mattress is also backed by a 15 year limited warranty, which is superior to the warranty period offered by many competing mattress-in-a-box brands in Australia. Overall, the warranty provides an added level of reassurance and helps reinforce the long-term value of the Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress.
Available sizes
What size options are available?

Did you know?
Ecosa originally launched with just one mattress
When Ecosa first launched in Australia, the company focused almost entirely on a single mattress model – now known as the Ecosa Mattress.
At the time, its adjustable firmness design helped distinguish the brand from many competitors and quickly established Ecosa as one of Australia’s leading mattress-in-a-box companies.
Today, the Ecosa range has expanded considerably and now includes multiple mattress models, bed frames, sofas, bedding, and furniture products. The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress represents a different approach to the company’s original foam mattress design, offering a firmer sleep experience with the support of a pocket spring system and a dual-sided firmness configuration.
Final verdict
Is this the right mattress for you?
The Ecosa TrueFirm Mattress is a thoughtfully designed mattress that delivers exactly what it promises – a genuinely firm and highly supportive sleeping experience. Its dual-sided design is both practical and effective, allowing users to switch between a Firm and Extra Firm feel simply by flipping the mattress.
Beyond its unique firmness adjustment, the TrueFirm offers impressive build quality, excellent edge support, low partner disturbance, and a responsive feel. It is also competitively priced and backed by Ecosa, one of Australia’s most established and reputable mattress brands.
While the TrueFirm is unlikely to suit those who prefer a softer or more cushioned sleep surface, it should appeal strongly to sleepers seeking firm support with the flexibility to fine-tune their comfort.
