Purchase and delivery
How do I buy the Ecosa Mattress?
The Ecosa Mattress can be conveniently ordered online through the Ecosa website and delivered to most areas across Australia.
As with most mattress-in-a-box products, the mattress arrives compressed and boxed for easier transport and setup. Despite being a foam mattress, the Ecosa Mattress is still reasonably heavy in larger sizes, so we recommend having two people available for unpacking.
Ecosa offers fast and free delivery to many metropolitan areas across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. In many metro locations, next-day delivery is available for in-stock products ordered before 11:59pm on weekdays.
Our mattress arrived in excellent condition and the overall packaging quality was particularly impressive. The sturdy box includes built-in transport wheels, which makes manoeuvring the mattress noticeably easier during delivery and setup.
Ecosa also includes several useful extras inside the box, including an information booklet, a plastic wrapping cutter, and a complimentary waterproof mattress protector.
Unpacking the mattress was relatively straightforward and took approximately 5–10 minutes. As per our standard testing process, we allowed the mattress 24 hours to fully decompress before testing.
Ecosa also offers Premium Delivery services in selected Sydney and Melbourne metro areas. This optional service includes delivery, assembly, setup, and rubbish removal.
For customers located outside metropolitan areas, delivery times and costs will vary depending on location. Some regional areas may attract an additional delivery fee.
Aesthetics and presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Ecosa Mattress has a clean and modern appearance with a relatively minimalist design that should suit a wide range of bedroom styles. Its white sleep surface contrasts nicely against the textured grey side panels, while the subtle black piping and understated Ecosa branding help give the mattress a more premium and refined presentation.
At 25cm high, the mattress has a relatively slim and streamlined profile compared to many competing mattresses. The overall finishings are neat and well executed, with quality stitching and a tidy, contemporary aesthetic throughout.
The design also aligns well with Ecosa’s broader branding approach, which places strong emphasis on simplicity, functionality, and sustainability.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Ecosa Mattress?
The Ecosa Mattress is an all-foam mattress that focuses heavily on pressure relief, motion isolation, and customisable comfort. It is currently available in two versions – the Original Edition and the Plush Edition – each offering different comfort characteristics and firmness configurations.
Both versions use removable zip covers, multiple interchangeable foam layers, and ergonomic support foam designed to promote spinal alignment and reduce partner disturbance.
Original Edition
The Original Edition is designed to deliver a more balanced and supportive feel, with firmness configurations ranging from medium to firm.
1. Breathable Tencel™ Cover
The top cover of the Original Edition combines Tencel™ fibres with recycled polyester to create a breathable and relatively soft sleep surface. The cover is removable and washable, and is designed to assist with airflow and moisture regulation during sleep.
The zip system also allows convenient access to the internal foam layers for firmness adjustments.
2. BounceTech™ Foam
The BounceTech™ layer is a higher-density transition foam designed to provide responsive support and temperature regulation. This layer includes pinhole perforations that help improve airflow through the mattress.
3. Contour Foam
Beneath the BounceTech™ layer sits Ecosa’s open-cell Contour Foam. This material is designed to contour gently to the body while maintaining a more breathable and responsive feel than traditional memory foam.
4. Zoned Ergonomic Support Foam
At the base of the mattress sits a dense ergonomic support foam layer featuring five targeted support zones. This section is designed to promote spinal alignment and provide additional support to heavier pressure areas such as the hips and lower back.
5. Ecosa Engineered Non-Slip Base
The mattress base includes a non-slip fabric layer designed to help minimise movement of the mattress on the bed base.
Plush Edition
The Plush Edition is designed to deliver a softer and more pressure-relieving sleep surface, while still maintaining good underlying support.
1. Breathable Tencel™ Cover
The Plush Edition uses the same removable Tencel™ cover as the Original Edition. The cover feels soft and breathable, and integrates neatly into the overall mattress design.
2. G-7 Memory Foam – Medium Plush
The upper comfort layer of the Plush Edition uses G-7 memory foam designed to deliver a softer and more cushioned feel. This layer contours more deeply to the body and creates a noticeable ‘melting’ sensation when lying on the mattress.
3. G-7 Memory Foam – Plush
Beneath the top comfort layer sits a second G-7 memory foam layer that provides additional contouring and deeper cushioning support.
4. Zoned Ergonomic Support Foam
Like the Original Edition, the Plush Edition uses a zoned ergonomic support foam layer designed to maintain spinal alignment and reduce motion transfer between sleeping partners.
5. Ecosa Engineered Non-Slip Base
The non-slip base fabric helps keep the mattress stable on the bed base and completes the overall mattress construction.
Firmness adjustments
How does the customisation work?
One of the standout features of the Ecosa Mattress is its adjustable firmness system, which allows users to rearrange the internal foam layers to create different comfort configurations.
For the Original Edition, users can choose between medium, medium-firm, and firm feels. This is achieved by unzipping the outer cover and repositioning the internal foam layers in different sequences.
In the default setup, the dual-sided comfort layer sits above the firm support layer. One side of this comfort layer delivers a medium feel, while the reverse side provides a medium-firm feel. By flipping this layer, users can easily switch between the two comfort options.
For those wanting an even firmer feel, the firm support foam layer can instead be positioned on top of the dual comfort layer. This creates the firmest configuration available in the Original Edition.
The Plush Edition follows a similar concept, although its configurations focus more heavily on softer comfort levels and deeper pressure relief.
During testing, we found the adjustment process relatively straightforward overall, although larger mattress sizes are generally easier to manage with two people. The removable zip cover also makes accessing the internal layers reasonably convenient.
The customisation process is best demonstrated in this video below:
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Ecosa Mattress?
Original Edition – Medium Version
The medium configuration offers the highest level of pressure relief within the Original Edition lineup. It has a slightly softer and more adaptive feel than the other configurations, while still maintaining a stable underlying support structure.
During testing, this configuration absorbed body weight evenly and delivered a comfortable balance between cushioning and support. It contours gently to the body without creating excessive sinkage.
This configuration should suit a broad range of sleepers, including many side sleepers, back sleepers, and some stomach sleepers, although comfort preferences will naturally vary between individuals.
By majority vote, we rated it as 7 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Original Edition – Medium Version

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Ecosa Mattress on the Porto Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
Original Edition – Medium-Firm Version
The medium-firm configuration feels slightly denser and more supportive than the medium option, while still maintaining a reasonable amount of cushioning and pressure relief.
During testing, this setup delivered a balanced combination of comfort and support, with the open-cell foam layers contouring gently to the body without creating excessive sinkage.
This configuration should also suit a wide range of sleeping positions and body types, particularly sleepers who prefer a slightly firmer and more stable foam feel.
By majority vote, we rated it as 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Original Edition – Medium-Firm Version

Original Edition – Firm Version
As expected, the firm configuration delivers the most supportive and stable feel of the Original Edition lineup. It feels noticeably firmer and denser overall, with reduced contouring and minimal sinkage during testing.
Despite the increased firmness, the mattress still retains a reasonable level of comfort from the upper foam layers and does not feel excessively hard.
This firmer configuration should generally suit many back sleepers and some stomach sleepers, although comfort preferences will naturally vary between individuals.
By majority vote, we rated it as 8.5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Original Edition – Firm Version

Again, our firmness ratings are just a guide.
Plush Edition – Plush Version
As expected, the plush configuration delivers the softest and most pressure-relieving feel within the Ecosa Mattress range. It has a noticeably plusher and more contouring character than the Original Edition, with deeper cushioning and a stronger ‘melting’ sensation when lying on the mattress.
During testing, this configuration absorbed body weight evenly and provided excellent pressure relief around the shoulders and hips. Sinkage is naturally more noticeable here, although the underlying support foam still helps the mattress maintain reasonable overall stability.
This plush configuration should generally suit side sleepers and those who prefer a softer, more cushioned foam feel, although comfort preferences will naturally vary between individuals.
By majority vote, we rated it as 5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Plush Edition – Plush Version

Plush Edition – Medium-Plush Version
The medium-plush configuration offers a balanced combination of softness and support. Compared to the plush setup, it feels slightly more supportive and stable overall, while still maintaining a comfortable level of contouring and pressure relief.
During testing, this configuration delivered a softer and more adaptive feel than the Original Edition, although without the deeper sinkage of the plush option. The mattress contours gently to the body and provides a comfortable cushioning effect without feeling overly soft.
This configuration should suit a broad range of sleepers, particularly side sleepers and back sleepers who prefer a softer and more pressure-relieving foam feel.
By majority vote, we rated it as 6 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Plush Edition – Medium-Plush Version

Plush Edition – Medium Version
The medium configuration is the firmest setup available within the Plush Edition lineup. It maintains the softer and more contouring character of the Plush Edition overall, although with a noticeably more supportive and controlled feel than the other plush configurations.
During testing, this setup delivered a comfortable balance between pressure relief and spinal support, while still maintaining a softer overall feel than the Original Edition mattresses.
This configuration should generally suit a wide range of sleeping positions and may appeal to sleepers who want a softer foam mattress without excessive sinkage.
By majority vote, we rated it as 6.5 / 10 on the firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest.
Plush Edition – Medium Version

Overall back support on the Ecosa Mattress is very respectable across all firmness configurations. The dense foam construction maintains body position well and creates a stable, balanced sleep surface with adequate spinal support for most sleepers.
The zoned ergonomic support foam also appears effective in supporting heavier pressure areas such as the hips and lower back, while still allowing a reasonable amount of contouring and pressure relief through the upper comfort layers.
Unlike some softer foam mattresses that can feel unstable or unsupportive, the Ecosa Mattress generally maintains a more solid and controlled feel overall. It should comfortably accommodate people of most body types and sleeping positions.
Considering that the Ecosa Mattress is an all-foam mattress, its level of responsiveness was genuinely impressive during testing.
Changing sleeping positions felt easier than expected, particularly when compared to many traditional memory foam mattresses that can create a deeper ‘stuck-in-the-bed’ sensation. The open-cell foam layers help give the mattress a slightly more buoyant and responsive character overall.
To this point, we rated the responsiveness of the Ecosa Mattress as optimal. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
The overall build quality of the Ecosa Mattress is very respectable. The materials, stitching, and finishings all feel well executed, and the mattress presents as a refined and thoughtfully designed product overall.
The removable zip cover feels durable and integrates neatly into the mattress design, while the internal foam layers are reasonably straightforward to rearrange during the firmness adjustment process. With that said, larger mattress sizes are generally much easier to manage with two people.
The Ecosa Mattress also includes practical side handles that make manoeuvring and rotating the mattress easier. Although the handles are attached securely, they do not feel quite as robust as some premium innerspring competitors.
The Ecosa Mattress is available in all 7 standard Australian mattress sizes, including long single and super king sizes. This is relatively uncommon within the mattress-in-a-box market and gives the range broader appeal across different sleeping arrangements.
Motion isolation is generally good overall, although partner disturbance was slightly more noticeable than on some competing foam mattresses such as the Koala Mattress. Nevertheless, movement transfer remained within acceptable limits during testing.
Edge support will vary depending on the selected firmness configuration. As expected, the firmer setups provide noticeably better edge stability, while the softer configurations allow more compression around the perimeter of the mattress. Overall though, edge support remains within normal limits for an all-foam mattress.
The Ecosa Mattress is available in all 7 standard Australian mattress sizes.
The foams used in the Ecosa Mattress are also CertiPUR-US® certified, while sections of the fabric materials incorporate recycled fibres and Tencel™ components. According to Ecosa, the mattress cover materials are certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
As mentioned earlier, the Ecosa Mattress sits approximately 25cm high, so standard fitted sheets should fit comfortably without issue.
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Ecosa Mattress to be used on a bed base with solid slats such as the Ecosa Haven Bed Frame.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.
The Ecosa Mattress can be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Ecosa Mattress comes with a 100 night trial period, which is standard for many leading mattress-in-a-box brands in Australia. This allows customers to test the mattress at home and return it for a refund if it is not suitable.
If a return is required during the trial period, conditions do apply and return arrangements may vary depending on your location.
The Ecosa Mattress is also backed by a 15 year limited warranty, which is superior to the warranty period offered by many competing online mattress brands in Australia.
According to Ecosa, the warranty covers manufacturing and material defects, although normal wear and tear, misuse, or damage caused by an unsuitable bed base are not included. Overall, the 15 year warranty helps reinforce the strong value proposition of the Ecosa Mattress and provides an added level of long-term reassurance for buyers.
Available sizes
What size options are available?
The Ecosa Mattress is available in all 7 Australian mattress sizes (super king, king, queen, double, king single, long single, and single size) so it should accommodate most sleeping arrangements.

Did you know?
Ecosa originally launched with just one mattress
When Ecosa first launched in Australia, the company focused almost entirely on a single adjustable foam mattress – now known as the Ecosa Mattress.
At the time, the ability to rearrange internal foam layers to change mattress firmness was relatively uncommon in the mattress-in-a-box market. This customisable design quickly became one of Ecosa’s signature features and helped establish the brand as one of Australia’s leading online mattress companies.
Today, the Ecosa range has expanded considerably and now includes multiple mattress models, bed frames, sofas, bedding, and furniture products.
Final verdict
Is this the right mattress for you?
The Ecosa Mattress combines good comfort, impressive customisation, and strong overall value within a clean and modern all-foam design.
Its adjustable firmness system remains one of the standout features of the mattress, allowing users to choose between multiple comfort configurations across both the Original Edition and Plush Edition models. The mattress also performs well in areas such as motion isolation, spinal support, and overall practicality.
While it lacks the deep responsiveness and edge support of some premium innerspring mattresses, the Ecosa Mattress should still suit a broad range of sleepers – particularly those who prefer the dense, stable, and pressure-relieving feel of foam mattresses.
