Purchase and delivery
As with other mattresses in a box, you can order the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress online (through the Ecosa website) and it will be delivered to your door.
Delivery of the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress is free to major metropolitan cities with next-day delivery available in these areas. For more information, see our Delivery section further down.
Removing the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress from its packaging should take around 10-15 minutes. As always, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box.
Keep in mind that there will be a substantial amount of packaging (cardboard and plastic) to dispose of. So, some planning may be required along with plenty of bin space.
As per our standard testing process, we gave the mattress 24 hours to decompress before we conducted our testing.
The Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress presents well with a blue and white colour theme to match the name of the product. It sits 28cm high which is within the normal range for an innerspring mattress.
Along with the mattress, the box includes an information booklet and a plastic cutting tool.
Mattress construction
As we mentioned above, the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress is an innerspring mattress and contains a a rather sophisticated comfort layer.
1. Cool+ Washable Top Cover
The top cover of this mattress is made of a premium, double-layered high polymer cooling fabric. This aims to creates an instant cool feeling – up to 80% cooler to the touch than standard mattress surfaces.
This cover is removable and washable, making it easy to keep clean.
2. Breathable FlexMatrix™ Grid
Sitting underneath the top fabric cover is a supportive, flexible grid cushioning layer with unparalleled breathability.
3. Cushioning BounceTech™ Foam
This layer of latex-like foam has an open-cell structure that provides a durable bounce with reduced heat retention.
4. Cooling Copper-Infused Air Foam
In line with the cooling features of this mattress is this foam layer that is infused with antimicrobial copper. This is designed for pressure-relieving comfort foam, heat dissipation, and exceptional airflow.
5. Cooling Graphene-Infused Foam
This foam layer helps to promoting temperature regulation. The graphene that has been infused into the foam rapidly draws heat away from the body.
6. Precision-Support Springs
The main support structure of this mattress contains 250* precision-engineered pocket springs in 5 ergonomic zones. This unit also contains 2 edge support zones for a strong mattress edge.
*Based on King Mattress
7. Non-Slip Base Cover
The underside of the mattress contains Ecosa’s engineered base cover that ensures your mattress stays put.
Comfort and support
The Cool+ Washable Top Cover cover feels breathable and cool to touch – reinforcing its potential to minimise heat during sleep.
The multiple comfort layers combine to produce a rather dense, spongy feel. Nevertheless, the mattress absorbs body weight smoothly and should offer enough pressure relief for most people.
This mattress should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers), but understandably its suitability may vary between individuals.
When it comes to a specific firmness rating, all of our reviewers agreed that this mattress has a medium-firm feel. By majority vote, we settled on a 6.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).
Firmness rating
Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress on the Chiropedic Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
The 5 zone spring system feels on this mattress feel sturdy and responsive. It should provide good back support for most people and we certainly didn’t detect any sagging or dipping.
Along with the comfort layers, the spring system gives this mattress a nice balance of comfort, support, and responsiveness.
Based on the quality of the pocket springs, we would expect this mattress to accommodate people of all sizes.
As we touched on above, the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress responds nicely to normal sleep movements and we rated its level of responsiveness as optimal. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.
Responsiveness
Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
The overall build quality of the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress is hard to fault. The quality of the foams and fabrics is of a good standard, as is the quality of the stitching and finishings.
Along with the comfort layers, the spring system gives this mattress a nice balance of comfort, support, and responsiveness.
Even though the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress is an innerspring mattress, the mattress isolates motion quite well. So, a restless partner shouldn’t cause too much disruption.
With that said, motion transfer may vary. A larger mattress (e.g. king size) will usually involve lower amounts of motion transfer. Partner disturbance will also depend on the size of the occupants of the bed.
The Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress comes with side handles that are attached to the mattress strongly. They are positioned horizontally and are easy to use. Side handles will almost always make moving or transporting a mattress easier.
The edge support on this mattress is impressive thanks to the edge support zones in the spring system. So, the mattress perimeter should provide reliable strength during sleep and sitting activities.
It’s worth noting here that the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress holds both CertiPUR-US® and OEKO-TEX® certifications. These certifications indicate that the foams and fabrics have been tested for harmful substances, and are safe for babies and toddlers.
What bed base should I use?
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress to be used on a bed base with flat panel slats such as the Koala Paddington Bed Base.
A bed base with solid slats such as the Chiropedic Bed Base, would also be very suitable.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will void the mattress warranty.
We don’t recommend the Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this may cause damage to the mattress components. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
The Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress comes with a 100 night trial period, which is a typical trial period in the online mattress market.
This trial period means that you can return the mattress for a refund if you are not satisfied. Naturally, conditions do apply.
This mattress also comes with a 15 year warranty to cover any faulty materials or workmanship. This warranty duration is also superior in comparison to the warranties of similarly priced products.
Available sizes
This mattress is available in 3 sizes (king, queen, and double) so it should accommodate most adult sleeping arrangements.
Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2025.
Final verdict
The Ecosa CoolComfort Mattress is a fine mattress with wide appeal. Although sleep temperature can be complex, it should be serviceable for those who overheat during sleep.
