Purchase and delivery
How do I buy a Comfys Mattress?
Like most modern bed-in-a-box options, the Comfys Mattress is available online through the official Comfys website. Ordering is quick and easy, and delivery is included for metro areas. Delivery to regional and rural areas may incur a fee.
Comfys offers a range of payment and finance options that include VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, PayPal, ApplePay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, Union Pay.
Along with standard delivery, Comfys also offers a premium delivery service The premium service which includes unboxing in your room of choice and disposal of packaging. For an added fee, Comfys will even remove your old mattress for recycling.
The mattress box itself was sturdy and came with wheels, making it easier to manoeuvre into place. It took two people about 10–15 minutes to unpack. Expect to dispose of a decent amount of packaging, so make space in your recycling bin.
Inside the box, you’ll find a product information card. We allowed the mattress 24 hours to decompress before testing.
Aesthetics and Presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The mattress looks fresh and modern, with a clean white and navy blue colour scheme.
Comfys branding is embroidered tastefully near the base. The medium version stands at 32cm high, while the firm sits slightly lower at 28cm — both within the normal range for an innerspring mattress.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Comfys Mattress?
This is a hybrid mattress featuring a mix of foams and a precision-engineered spring system.
1. TENCEL™ Fabric Cover
Breathable and moisture-wicking, the TENCEL™ cover is soft to the touch and helps regulate sleep temperature.
2. Comfort Layers
Both firmness options include high-quality memory foam and latex. These materials provide pressure relief and cushioning without excessive sink.
3. 5-Zone Pocket Spring System
The core of the mattress is a 5-zone pocket spring unit, designed to provide targeted support for the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This zoning helps to align the spine and enhance comfort.
4. Side Support Foam
Reinforced foam surrounds the perimeter, improving edge support and ensuring structural integrity.
Comfort and support
What’s it like to sleep on the Comfys Mattress?
The top cover of the Comfys Mattress feels delightful – soft, smooth, and breathable. This cover may help with cooling during sleep.
The medium version has a nice softness to it, and absorbs body weight smoothly. In essence, it is very comfortable and should have a wide appeal.
This configuration should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers), but understandably its suitability may vary between individuals.
All of our expert reviewers agreed that this medium version has a ‘medium’ feel. By majority vote, we settled on a 5.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).
Medium Version
Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies. Mattress firmness will also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
We tested the Comfys Mattress on the Chiropedic Bed Base which is a good quality bed base with rigid slats.
The firm version is firmer and would be best described as firm but comfortable. It still has a nice level of pressure relief and we wouldn’t say it is hard as a rock.
This firm configuration would most likely suit back sleepers, but depending on the individual, it may still offer enough comfort for side sleepers and stomach sleepers.
All of our expert reviewers agreed that this firm version has a ‘firm’ feel. By majority vote, we settled on a 8 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).
Firm Version
Both firmness options feel stable and both offer very good back support. The spring system feels strong and responsive and should accommodate people of all sizes.
One thing that we liked about these firmness levels is that there is a noticeable difference between the firm and the medium versions. In other beds in a box (such as the Sleeping Duck Mattress), we often find only a small difference between firmness options.
So, choosing between medium and firm is somewhat easier with the Comfys Mattress. Both firmness options are very typical of their description.
We really liked the overall level of comfort in both versions. Perhaps it’s no surprise that this was a focus in the development of these mattresses, considering the company name.
The Comfys Mattress responds well to normal sleep movements and we rated its responsiveness as optimal. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t require much effort.
Responsiveness
Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
In terms of build quality, the Comfys Mattress is admirable and impressive when you consider its price. The quality of materials and finishings seems of a high quality, and we would expect this mattress to be durable.
The underside fabric seems to be effective and should prevent major sliding or slipping of the mattress on your bed base.
As mentioned earlier, the Comfys Mattress sits 28cm high (firm) or 32cm (medium). With this in mind, any standard size fitted sheet should fit easily around this mattress.
There is a noticeable difference between the firm and the medium versions.
This mattress isolates movement well, so a restless partner shouldn’t cause too much disruption. The blending of the foams and spring system seems to minimise motion transfer quite well.
With that said, motion transfer may vary. A larger mattress (e.g. king size) will usually involve lower amounts of motion transfer. Partner disturbance will also depend on the size of the occupants of the bed.
We always give points for side handles, and the Comfys Mattress has two on each side, positioned vertically. Even though there isn’t a huge amount of space for larger hands, the handles are attached strongly.
Side handles will always make moving or transporting a mattress easier.
Edge support is particularly impressive so users should be able to use the entire surface of the mattress, without fear of falling off the edge. The foam around the sides feels dense and shows some nice attention to detail by Comfys.
We didn’t notice any abnormal heat retention on this mattress. We wouldn’t expect this mattress to ‘sleep hot’ or for large amounts of heat to accumulate.
Keep in mind though that sleep temperature can be complex and involves many factors (e.g. type of mattress, pillow, clothing, sheets, room temperature, humidity, medical conditions, occupants of the bed etc).
Furthermore, soft mattresses tend to be warmer (than firm mattresses) as the thick layers of foam can trap heat during sleep.
According to Comfys, the foams used in this mattress are certified as non-toxic by CertiPUR-US®. This certification gives customers the reassurance that a product (or product components) has been tested for toxic chemicals such as mercury, lead, formaldehyde, VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Bed base compatibility
What type of bed base should I use?
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Comfys Mattress to be used on a bed base with flat panel slats such as the Koala Paddington Bed Base.
A bed base with solid slats such as the Chiropedic Bed Base, would also be very suitable.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will void the mattress warranty.
We don’t recommend the Comfys Mattress be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. as this may cause damage to the mattress components. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Trial period and warranty
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Comfys Mattress comes with a 120 night trial period, which is slightly superior to a typical trial period (of 100 nights) in the online mattress market,
Comfys does ask that you try the mattress for at least 30 days to allow your body to adjust to the new mattress.
This trial period means that you can return the mattress for a refund if you are not satisfied. Conditions do apply though, for example regional and rural customers may be charged a return shipping fee which will be deducted from your refund.
This mattress also comes with a 10 year warranty to cover any faulty materials or workmanship. This is a typical warranty period in context of similarly priced competitors.
Available sizes
What size options are available?
This mattress is available in 4 sizes (king, queen, double, and single size) so it should accommodate most sleeping arrangements.
The graphic below includes all of Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2025. Again please note that the Comfys Mattress is available in 4 of these sizes.
Competitor Comparison
How does Comfys compare to other top mattresses?
Here’s how the Comfys Mattress stacks up against some of its main competitors:
vs. Sleeping Duck Mattress
Firmness options: Both brands offer firmness choices, but Comfys offers more noticeable variation between medium and firm.
Support: The Sleeping Duck Mattress uses a modular system for custom zones, while Comfys relies on a 5-zone pocket spring setup.
Trial period: Sleeping Duck offers 100 nights; Comfys offers 120.
Price: Sleeping Duck (queen) starts at $1,649, compared to Comfys’ $1,199.
vs. Koala Mattress
Construction: The Koala Mattress uses all-foam; Comfys uses hybrid (foam & springs).
Feel: Koala offers adjustable firmness (flippable layer), while Comfys gives fixed firmness but better bounce and airflow.
Edge support: Comfys offers better edge support due to its perimeter foam.
Trial & warranty: Koala offers 120-night trial and 10-year warranty — equal to Comfys.
vs. Emma Mattress
Firmness: The Emma Comfort Mattress is medium-firm only, with no customisation.
Motion isolation: Emma excels in motion isolation; Comfys also has good motion isolation but a slightly more responsive feel.
Price: Emma Comfort often retails for ~$1,000 (queen), slightly cheaper than Comfys.
So, while established brands have their strengths, Comfys holds its own with strong value, distinct firmness options, and excellent edge support.
