Purchase and delivery
How do I buy a Yona Bed 2.0?
The Yona Bed 2.0 can be ordered online directly through the Yona website.
Delivery is fast and reliable, with free shipping to most metro and regional addresses across Australia. For some remote locations, there may be a small additional fee, but this is displayed at checkout.
The product arrives in a single compact box – for a queen size, the dimensions are 104 cm x 67 cm x 13 cm, weighing 11.4 kg. Compared to some other bed bases that arrive in multiple heavy boxes, the Yona Bed 2.0 is relatively easy for one person to handle and bring inside.
Assembling
How do I assemble the Yona Bed 2.0?
The Yona Bed 2.0 is built around Yona’s GridLok™ system. Assembly is tool-free, but does require time and patience, as there are multiple cardboard pieces to fold and interlock.
Yona claims “true one-person assembly”, and while this is accurate, most people should allow 20–30 minutes for setup.
In our testing, the pieces fit together neatly, and the instruction sheet provided was helpful. Assembly is definitely manageable with one person, but not surprisingly is quicker with two people.
We would suggest being careful during the assembling process in terms of the sharp cardboard edges. One of our reviewers sustained a few small cuts to her hand during this process.
Stability and practicality
Is the Yona Bed 2.0 really that strong?
Once assembled, the Yona Bed 2.0 feels remarkably stable.
We tested it with a good quality innerspring mattress (the Comfys Mattress), and the base showed no creaking, sagging, or shifting. The interlocked grid distributes weight evenly, and Yona claims a maximum load of up to 2,800 kg (queen size) – the highest weight rating we’ve seen from any bed base, by far.
Despite its cardboard construction, the Yona Bed 2.0 feels solid and secure. In fact, the Yona Bed 2.0 felt far more stable than many posture slatted bed bases that we have tested.
One consideration is that the bed sits directly on the floor, so there is no under-bed storage. This may be a drawback for those who rely on storage space, but it does give the bed a clean, minimalist profile.
The Yona Bed 2.0 is also very easy to transport. If you want to leave it assembled, it is light and easy to carry. We would recommend using a protective covering of some kind when moving it in the assembled form.
And of course, if you want to disassemble the Yona Bed 2.0, it can fit back into the original box, or the pieces can be carried carefully in small piles.
Style and design
Will this cardboard bed base match my decor?
The Yona Bed 2.0 – Scandi Edition comes finished in an outer cover with modern, Scandinavian-inspired tones. Available colours include charcoal black, dark oak, and forest green.
Our sample in dark oak (more like a maroon colour) should blend in well with beige, brown, or earthy colours. At a small glance, the cardboard construction is not particularly obvious.
At a height of 26.5 cm, the bed sits at a comfortable level for most sleepers, and it should pair well with standard mattresses of all types – foam, innerspring, or hybrid.
Sustainability
Are the materials good for the environment?
Made from 100% corrugated cardboard (a mix of recycled materials and new fibres from sustainable forestry), the Yona Bed 2.0 is one of the most environmentally friendly bed bases available.
The product is 100% recyclable and moisture-resistant, and comes with a 5-year warranty that also covers issues related to humidity or spills.
This Yona 2.0 represents a rare blend of practicality and sustainability, appealing to eco-conscious buyers who don’t want to compromise on durability.
