Ergoflex 5G Memory Foam Mattress Review
We found the Ergoflex 5G Mattress to be a very good, firmer feel mattress in a box option. The premium quality foams used in the mattress are unique to Ergoflex and provide excellent support and appear to be very durable. The Ergoflex 5G Mattress was actually the first mattress in a box product available in Australia (2010) and it’s no surprise that the product has stood the test of time.
The Ergoflex 5G Mattress has a firm, dense feel to it – similar to many of the Tempur™ mattresses that we have tested, but of course at a fraction of the price. The mattress does have some pressure relief as you get settled, but certainly not light and ‘cloud-like’. It has a ‘spongy’ feel to it rather than a bouncy feel to it, which would appeal to different people depending on personal preference.
One of the strengths of the Ergoflex 5G Mattress is its level of spinal support. The density and feel of the top layer (visco-elastic memory foam) supports the body nicely, and the remaining layers of the Cool-Sleep™ airflow foam and the ‘high resilience foundation layer’ layer provide further body support. There is no obvious sinking or dipping, and the mattress maintains healthy spinal alignment in all body positions. Unlike most other mattress in a box products, the Ergoflex 5G Mattress is also compatible with adjustable (electric) bed bases.
The natural fibres of the outer TENCEL® cover are anti-allergenic and feel light, soft, and breathable. This cover is removable, washable, and fire resistant. The body of the mattress contains a generous layer (9cms) of Ergoflex’s unique high density memory foam, far more than most other mattress in a box products. This sits over the special ventilated air flow layer, and a strong foundation layer for extra body support. The mattress has a relatively low height (23cm) but edge support was still reasonable for an all-foam mattress. The products used appear durable and should last many years.
The high quality memory foam, air flow layer, and foundation layer seem to be very stable with general body movements and as such, partner disturbance is very minimal on the Ergoflex 5G Mattress. The nature of the memory foam also means that it doesn’t have the typical ‘bounce’ to it like other spring mattresses, which again helps to reduce disturbance.
A queen size Ergoflex 5G Mattress is listed at $1499, above average for the mattress in a box market, but this is to be expected considering the premium materials used. At this price, the Ergoflex 5G Mattress still represents good value for money and is a strong contender in the mattress in a box market.

Benefits of the Ergoflex Sleep System.
The Ergoflex™ 5G mattress is a true, High-Density orthopaedic pressure-reducing mattress, with temperature-sensitive responsive performance that contour to your exact body shape. Providing consistent support over the entire sleep-surface, the Ergoflex™ intelligently responds to support and alleviate pressure points (such as the lower back, hips, shoulders) and deliver instant and unrivalled comfort that lasts the entire night.
Designed with billions of spherical shaped open cells, the Ergoflex ™ 85kg/m3 density visco-elastic memory foam provides the optimum level of support & longevity, shifting responsively under your weight to create a body-cradling supportive sleep surface night after night, year after year.
Inclusive of its temperature-sensitive properties, the open cell foam and Cool-Sleep™ airflow system found at the very core of the mattress encourages air to freely circulate through the material, keeping you cooler than a standard memory foam mattress. Please note: Although we don’t generally recommend mattress in a box products to go on an ‘adjustable base’ (a base that can be angled via a remote control), the Ergoflex Mattress is designed for adjustable bases and is therefore compatible with adjustable bases (electric beds). The Ergoflex Mattress can also be placed on a solid ensemble base, or a slat base. If you have any queries about bed bases, please contact us.Add to favourites
