Aerobu Baby Mattress ‘Duo’ Review

The Aerobu Baby Mattress ”Duo” was awarded ‘Australia’s Best Baby Mattress’ for 2019 and a such, our review team views this as the premier baby mattress on the market.

The Aerobu Duo is an updated version of the original Aerobu Baby Mattress which in many ways set the standard for baby mattress innovation. This new “duo” version has two layers which can be separated completely thanks to a cleverly designed zipper. This means that the upper section can be washed through, allowing you to keep the mattress clean and hygienic for your baby or toddler. The base layer is waterproof to prevent the foam from being soiled.

As with the original Aerobu Baby Mattress, this mattress has been specifically developed for babies, and its design seems to be focused around breathability, ventilation, and heat reduction. Naturally, this is very important for sleep health in babies and ensuring their sleep environment encourages healthy breathing and a comfortable sleep. This is evident with Aerobu’s outer cover which has a ‘meshy’ feel, and appears to be very durable and well ventilated. The foam inside is Aerobu’s ‘open-cell ventilation foam’ which would provide an excellent sleeping surface for infants and toddlers.

The top layer feels firm and ‘meshy’ – somewhat different to the more springy feel of other baby mattresses. Nevertheless, the sleeping surface would provide very good spinal support for growing spines and the open cell foam seems to absorb body weight well for infants and toddlers.

The Aerobu Duo has an in-built antimicrobial protection, prohibiting the growth of common moulds and fungus. This is reassuring for parents who can be comfortable knowing that this sleeping surface will be free of allergens.

The Aerobu Duo is also cheaper than the original version, with a recommended retail price of $275, significantly cheaper than the previous $399.
