The Sleep Support Mattress is one of the cheapest mattresses on the market. As you would expect, it is noticeably unsophisticated but it does offer a reasonable level of comfort, considering its price.
Purchase and delivery
Just like other bed in a box products, the Sleep Support Mattress can be conveniently ordered online (through the Mobile Mattress website) and it will arrive at your door in a box. Delivery is free, and Mobile Mattress deliver Australia wide.
As usual, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box. We would also allow 24 hours to pass (to allow for decompression) before sleeping on this mattress.
Comfort and support
The Sleep Support Mattress has a comfort layer that consists of knitted fabric and a high density foam. This comfort layer is basic, and offers an ‘honest’ level of pressure relief. It does absorb body weight smoothy, but (not surprisingly), it does feel a bit cheap.
Based on our testing, our team rated it as a ‘medium-firm’ feel and an 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest). Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Under the comfort layers of the Sleep Support Mattress is a respectable pocket spring system. It may not accomodate heavier people, but it does offer decent back support. It’s worth noting that most other mattresses at this price point use cheaper Bonnell springs.
The finer details
The overall build quality of this mattress is basic as you would expect. With that said, edge support is quite good and partner disturbance is certainly not as bad as the similarly priced Kmart Mattress. It’s also worth noting here that the Sleep Support Mattress has a 2 year warranty.
The Sleep Support Mattress is a good option for those on a budget, or for those looking for something cheap for the guest room.
