Purchase and delivery

Online purchase

The Silent Night Onyx Mattress can be purchased online through the Beds & Dreams website and delivered directly to your home.

One major benefit of purchasing online through Bedbuyer (using our link and discount code) is that the Silent Night Onyx comes with a 100 Night Eco Exchange. This allows you to exchange the mattress for a different firmness if you aren’t satisfied.

If you’re still not satisfied after the exchange, you also have the option to return the mattress for a refund in line with the Eco Exchange terms. This provides added flexibility and peace of mind, particularly if you’re unsure which firmness to choose.

In-store purchase

The Silent Night Onyx range can also be purchased in-store at Beds & Dreams, with over 30 showroom locations Australia-wide. Buying in-store gives you the opportunity to see and test the different firmness options in person before making a decision. In-store customers can still claim the Bedbuyer price in-store.

If you purchase the Silent Night Onyx in-store at Beds & Dreams, you can claim a $25 Bedbuyer cashback (from the 1st of February 2026). To qualify, simply email your purchase receipt to Bedbuyer to hello@bedbuyer.com.au within three business days of purchase. Cashback is paid after verification – full details are outlined in our cashback policy.

This option may suit shoppers who are confident in their choice and prefer immediate value, rather than post-purchase exchange flexibility.

Delivery information

Whether you purchase your Silent Night Onyx online or in-store, Beds & Dreams deliveries are handled by contracted furniture removalists and are dispatched from state-based warehouses located in:

  • NSW – Glendenning
  • QLD – Kedron
  • VIC – Dandenong
  • SA – Mile End
  • WA – Gnangara

Delivery fees are calculated from the nearest warehouse as follows:

  • Up to 40 km from the local warehouse: $100
  • Over 40 km from the local warehouse: $100 + $2 per additional kilometre

Some Beds & Dreams stores are located outside standard metropolitan delivery zones, including Helensvale (QLD), Maroochydore (QLD), Pakenham (VIC), and West Gosford (NSW). For these locations, delivery pricing is calculated based on a 30 km radius from the store, using the same distance-based rates outlined above.

For addresses outside these metro areas, delivery costs are estimated at checkout. While these estimates are usually accurate, in some cases an additional fee may apply depending on access or delivery requirements at the destination.

Delivery days vary by store and location. Most stores do not deliver on Sundays or public holidays, and some areas are serviced on specific days of the week. Your delivery date and time will be confirmed by phone or email, with a further confirmation sent 1–2 days prior to delivery to ensure someone is available to accept the order.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances (such as vehicle issues, traffic incidents, or severe weather), Beds & Dreams customer service will contact you to arrange an alternative delivery time.

Aesthetics and Presentation

What does it look like in real life?

The Silent Night Onyx has a refined, modern look that suits its premium positioning. With a 39cm profile, it has a substantial presence on the bed, while the clean white and grey colour palette keeps the overall appearance light and contemporary.

You can see this mattress in ‘real life’ in our video review here:

Closer inspection reveals thoughtful detailing, including the patterned ICE-TEK™ cooling knit cover, neat embroidery, and understated branding. These finishing touches give the Onyx a sense of quality and craftsmanship that aligns well with its Australian-made credentials.

Mattress construction

What’s inside the Silent Night Onyx Mattress?

The overall construction of the Silent Night Onyx is focused on cooling performance, responsive support, and long-term durability.

1. Exclusive ICE-TEK™ Cooling Knit

The Silent Night Onyx features Silent Night’s ICE-TEK™ cooling knit, a thermo-regulating fabric designed to draw heat away from the body on contact. It feels cool to the touch and helps manage moisture, supporting a more comfortable sleep temperature.

2. Premium Silk Cashmere Blend

A silk and cashmere blend sits beneath the surface, adding a refined, luxurious feel while assisting with natural temperature regulation. This combination provides effective insulation without trapping heat.

Silent Night Onyx

3. Premium HD Comfort Foam

The Onyx uses high-density comfort foam with an open-cell structure for durability, body contouring, and breathability. The foam is GECA certified and manufactured without harmful chemicals or off-gassing.

4. Body Moulding Cool Gel Memory Foam

A layer of cool gel memory foam provides pressure relief and adaptive support. The Australian-made gel is liquid-injected to assist with temperature regulation while contouring to the body.

5. Open Cell Formula for Airflow

The comfort layers use an open-cell foam design to promote airflow through the mattress, helping reduce heat build-up and maintain a more stable sleeping temperature.

6. 10 Zone Silentpocket™ Dual Coil System

Support is provided by Silent Night’s 10 Zone Silentpocket™ Dual Coil System, which delivers targeted support while minimising partner disturbance. Each pocket spring responds independently for improved comfort and spinal alignment.

7. Edge Boost™ Foam Boxed Wall

An Edge Boost™ foam encasement surrounds the spring system, reinforcing the mattress perimeter. This improves edge support, durability, and usable sleep surface.

Comfort and support

What’s it like to sleep on the Silent Night Onyx?

As mentioned earlier, the Silent Night Onyx comes in 4 firmness options – extra firm, firm, medium, or plush (soft).

The ICE-TEK™ cooling knit cover feels cool to touch and should help regulate sleep temperature for most sleepers. This is quite a unique fabric that feels different to virtually all other mattress covers we have tested.

Silent Night Onyx

Beneath this, the comfort layers provide a soft, light initial feel with good pressure relief. That said, it’s important to note that the Onyx range generally sits on the firmer end of the spectrum, with each firmness option feeling slightly firmer than what many people might expect from similar labels.

The extra firm version delivers an unmistakably firm feel and maintains its shape exceptionally well. It is extremely supportive but offers minimal cushioning, and as such may not provide enough comfort for most sleepers. That said, it remains a suitable option for those who specifically want a very firm sleeping surface.

Our team rated the extra firm option a 9 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).

Extra firm version

The firm version also maintains its shape very well and has a clearly firm feel, though with slightly more comfort than the extra firm. It’s likely best suited to back sleepers, but may also suit some side and stomach sleepers depending on individual body type and preferences.

We rated the firm version an 8 / 10 on the firmness scale.

Firm version

The medium version provides a little more pressure relief again, but still feels best described as medium-firm rather than a true medium. It strikes a good balance between support and comfort for a broad range of sleepers and was rated a 7 / 10 on the firmness scale.

Medium version

The plush version offers the most cushioning of the range, with improved pressure relief through the comfort layers. Even so, it retains a supportive and stable feel and does not feel overly soft or cloud-like.

Our team rated the plush option a 6 / 10 on the firmness scale, making it a good choice for those who want comfort without losing support.

Plush version

Please note that our firmness ratings are intended as a guide only and do not necessarily relate directly to comfort. Mattresses with the same firmness rating can feel quite different depending on materials and construction.

Furthermore, these ratings are based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and may differ from firmness ratings provided by manufacturers. Mattress firmness and performance can also vary depending on the type of bed base used.

Across all versions, the spring system is a standout. It feels strong, stable, and responsive, providing excellent spinal support when the correct firmness is selected for your body weight and shape.

The Silent Night Onyx also responds well to normal sleep movements, earning an ‘optimal’ responsiveness rating, meaning changing sleep positions should be easy.

Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

What else should I know?

The Silent Night Onyx demonstrates a high level of overall quality and craftsmanship. The finishing, stitching, and panel construction all feel robust and well executed, which is consistent with its premium positioning and Australian-made credentials.

With a profile of approximately 37-38cm, the Onyx is a relatively tall mattress, so you may need deep-fitting sheets (often sold as “super queen” sheets for a queen size) to achieve a proper fit.

The mattress is also quite heavy – a queen size weighs around 60kg – and comes fitted with securely attached, vertically positioned side handles to make rotating and positioning easier.

Edge support is firm thanks to the Edge Boost™ foam boxed wall, with the firmer versions offering slightly stronger edge stability than the softer options.

If you purchase the Silent Night Onyx in-store at Beds & Dreams, you can claim a $25 cashback from Bedbuyer.

Partner disturbance is well controlled overall, with only minor motion transfer detected during testing. As expected, larger sizes such as king and super king absorb movement more effectively, while sleeper size and weight will also influence how much movement is felt.

The Silent Night Onyx also holds GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) certification, confirming that it meets recognised standards for non-toxic materials and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

Bed base compatibility

What type of bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend this mattress to be used with a bed base with solid slats (not flexible/posture slats), such as the Atlantis Bed Base.

We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.

Atlantis Bed BaseAtlantis Bed Base

Furthermore, we do not recommend this mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this may void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.

100 night Eco Exchange and warranty

What happens if I don’t like it?

As mentioned earlier, if you purchase the Silent Night Onyx online through Bedbuyer, you’re eligible for the 100 Night Eco Exchange. This allows you to exchange the mattress for a different firmness within the Onyx range if it doesn’t feel quite right.

If you’re still not satisfied after the exchange, you also have the option to return the mattress for a refund within the 100-night period.

You can read the full 100 Night Eco Exchange terms here.

The Silent Night Onyx is also backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, covering defects in materials or workmanship.

$25 cashback – in-store purchase

How does the $25 cashback work?

If you purchase the Silent Night Onyx in-store at Beds & Dreams, you can claim a $25 cashback from Bedbuyer.

To qualify, simply email your purchase receipt to Bedbuyer to hello@bedbuyer.com.au within three business days of purchase. Cashback is paid after verification and settlement of the sale.

You can read the full Bedbuyer x Beds & Dreams Cashback Policy here.
