Purchase and delivery
The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed (3-Seater, Queen) can be conveniently ordered online through the Ecosa website, and it will arrive at your door in 4 boxes.
We would expect that the other sizes (1.5 Seater, Armchair and 3.5 Seater, King) will involve a different number of boxes and different box sizes.
Delivery is free and fast to major metropolitan areas, with next-day delivery available in the 5 major capital cities. Please note that regional deliveries will incur a $175 shipping fee.

The boxes we received were thick and strong. This was reassuring in context of the protection of the sofa bed components during transport. Inside, the boxes contained soft fabric wrapping and plastic wrapping.
The main mattress component was rolled in recyclable plastic and there was an easy to follow instruction card included. You will also find a small box of attachments (legs and nuts) with compostable packaging tape.
We noted that the legs already had felt pads attached which will save a little time.
Keep in mind that you will need some considerable bin space to dispose of the packaging.
The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed isn’t as easy to assemble as say the Koala Cushy Sofa Bed, but with two people, it shouldn’t present much difficulty. You won’t need any tools, and all small parts (screws, nuts, and legs) are included.
As a guide, it took two of us about 15-20 minutes to remove all of the packaging and another 10 minutes to assemble the product. We do recommend that you have 2 people on hand to set up this product.
Sliding the armrests on is tricky, so some time and patience may be required during this stage.
The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed can be ordered in 6 different colours – Sandy Beige, Fog Grey, Smoke Grey, Arctic Blue, Dawn Blue, and Marigold. With so many colour options, this sofa bed should blend in with any style or decor theme.
Comfort and support
The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed in ‘sofa’ mode feels sturdy, supportive, yet still comfortable. In comparison to most other sofa beds, it is well above average in terms of comfort.
The side cushions are also comfortable, and these should create a soft surface for your arm. The depth of the sofa should suit most people, as it is not too deep.
Transforming this sofa into ‘bed mode’ is easy and only takes a matter of seconds. Simply unzip the zip at the back of the backrest and then pull the back rest forward.
Like most bed modes, the sleep surface has a firm and supportive feel.
With that said, bed mode is more comfortable and responsive than most other sofa beds we have tested. This is likely due to the pocket spring design of the mattress which responds nicely to normal sleep movements.
This pocket spring mattress is a clever inclusion by Ecosa to enhance comfort in bed mode, knowing that many sofa beds produce hard and uncomfortable sleep surfaces.
For those who plan to sleep on the mattress with a partner, motion transfer is minimal. So, a restless partner shouldn’t create too much disturbance.
The cushions that are included as side cushions (in sofa mode) are quite soft so can certainly be used as pillows in bed mode.
The finer details
The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed presents nicely with a classic yet modern style.
The fabric feels thick yet soft, and is not dissimilar to the trendy boucle fabric. This fabric feels quite different to that of the Ecosa Rio Sofa Bed, which has a smoother sensation.
It’s worth noting here that the Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed comes with a 100 night trial period, so you can return the sofa bed for a refund if you are not satisfied. The product also comes with a 5 year warranty.

The Ecosa Tokyo Sofa Bed is available in 3 sizes – a 1.5 seater (armchair size), the 3 seater (which converts to a queen size mattress), and the 3.5 seater (which converts into a king mattress).
