Purchase and delivery
The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed (3-Seater, Queen) can be conveniently ordered online through the Ecosa website, and it will arrive at your door in 4 boxes.
3 of these boxes are large, with the other being smaller and flat. 1 of the larger boxes contains the main mattress/sofa section, and this resembles the size of a typical mattress in a box (queen size).
We would expect that the other sizes (1.5 Seater, Armchair, 2.5 Seater, Double and 3.5 Seater, King) will involve a different number of boxes and different box sizes.
The boxes we received were thick and strong. This was reassuring in context of the protection of the sofa bed components during transport. Inside, the boxes contained soft fabric wrapping, plastic wrapping, and the product parts. You will need some considerable bin space to dispose of the packaging.
Delivery is free and fast to major metropolitan areas, with next-day delivery available in the 5 major capital cities. Please note that regional deliveries will incur a $175 shipping fee.

The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed isn’t as easy to assemble as say the Koala Cushy Sofa Bed, but with two people, it shouldn’t present much difficulty. You won’t need any tools and all small parts (screws/nuts) are included.
As a guide, it took two of us about 15-20 minutes to remove all of the packaging and another 5-10 minutes to assemble the product. We highly recommend that you have 2 people on hand to set up this product.
The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed can be ordered in 7 different colours – Dove Grey, Charcoal, Evergreen, Fresh Mint, Cocoa, Indigo, and Oyster Shell. With so many colour options, this sofa bed should blend in with any style or decor theme.
Comfort and support
The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed in ‘sofa’ mode has a pleasant, comfortable feel with no obvious dipping or sinking. In comparison to most other sofa beds, it ranks up in the higher end in terms of comfort.
The back cushions are also comfortable, and they create a suitable sitting space so that sofa mode doesn’t feel too long or deep.
The arm rests are nicely padded, and as a sofa, it feels strong and sturdy.
Transforming this sofa into ‘bed mode’ is easy and only takes a matter of seconds. There is a strip of fabric behind the back rest that acts as an easy grip when pulling the back rest forward. This definitely makes the transformation process easier.
Like most bed modes, the sleep surface has a firm and supportive feel.
With that said, bed mode is notably comfortable and responsive for a sofa bed. This is likely due to the pocket spring design of the mattress which responds nicely to normal sleep movements.
This pocket spring mattress is a clever inclusion by Ecosa to enhance comfort in bed mode, knowing that many sofa beds produce hard and uncomfortable sleep surfaces.
For those who plan to sleep on the mattress with a partner, motion transfer is minimal. So, a restless partner shouldn’t create too much disturbance.
The cushions that are included as the back rest (in sofa mode) can be used as pillows in bed mode. These cushions will feel a bit firmer than a typical bed pillow, but they are serviceable nonetheless.
The finer details
The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed presents nicely and blends style, simplicity, with a modern touch.
The fabric isn’t as thick as the fabric in the Ecosa Rio Sofa Bed, but it certainly doesn’t feel cheap.
As we touched on earlier, this sofa bed contains a number of fabric flaps (back of the back rest and around the arm rests). Whether this was intended or not, these made it easy to assemble the sofa bed, and to transform the sofa bed.
It’s worth noting here that the Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed comes with a 100 night trial period, so you can return the sofa bed for a refund if you are not satisfied. The product also comes with a 5 year warranty.

The Ecosa Sydney Sofa Bed is available in 4 sizes – a 1.5 seater (armchair size), the 2.5 seater (which converts into a double mattress), the 3 seater (which converts to a queen size mattress), and the 3.5 seater (which converts into a king mattress).
