Purchase and delivery
The Ausbeds Cloud Mattress can be purchased directly through the Ausbeds website or from the Ausbeds showroom in Marrickville, Sydney. Ordering online is straightforward, with customers selecting their mattress size and firmness level based on the brand’s body-weight guide.
Delivery is available across major metro areas including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. In Sydney, delivery is calculated at $2 per kilometre from the Marrickville factory, with free delivery within 15km. For Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra, the base delivery fee is $190, which covers locations within 15km of the depot, with an additional $2 per kilometre beyond that distance.
For Sydney deliveries, the mattress is typically delivered by the Ausbeds team who built it. They will bring the mattress into your home, set it up on your bed base and remove the packaging. Interstate deliveries are generally made to your front door via a courier partner. Ausbeds may also offer additional services such as two-person delivery or old mattress removal depending on the location.
After placing an order, customers receive confirmation details and are contacted to arrange a suitable delivery window. A reminder is typically sent before the delivery date, and the delivery team will call when they are on their way.
Our Ausbeds Cloud Mattress arrived in separate parts. The main spring unit came on its own, and the comfort layers (two latex layers and two microspring layers) were rolled together in thick protective wrapping.
Following the instruction card, we placed the two microspring layers on top of the main spring system, then added one of the latex layers over the microsprings. Once everything was aligned and sitting flat, we zipped up the outer cover and started our testing.
Aesthetics and Presentation
What does it look like in real life?
The Ausbeds Cloud Mattress has a clean, modern look with a fairly understated design. It sits 31cm high with a colour scheme that is predominantly dark grey on the side panels, paired with a lighter grey sleep surface.

The quilted top panel features a subtle stitched pattern and a soft fabric finish that looks neat and well presented. Along the sides, vertical stitching and the embroidered ausbeds logo add a simple branding touch without being overly prominent. One of the distinctive design elements is the full zip that runs around the perimeter of the mattress, allowing easy access to the internal components.
Overall presentation is tidy and functional, with the design reflecting the modular nature of the mattress. While it may not have the elaborate detailing seen on some ultra-premium mattresses, the overall finish is neat and practical, aligning well with the Cloud’s focus on adjustability and component access.
Mattress construction
What’s inside the Ausbeds Cloud Mattress?
1. TENCEL™ cover
The Ausbeds Cloud Mattress features a stretch-knit cover made from eucalyptus-based TENCEL™ fabric. This breathable material helps regulate moisture and temperature while providing a soft sleeping surface. The cover is fully zippered, allowing easy access to the internal components for adjustment or replacement.
2. Natural latex comfort layer
Beneath the cover sits around 5cm of GOLS-certified natural latex. Latex is responsive and durable, offering a bouncy feel while also helping reduce heat build-up compared with many foam layers. It is recommended that the firmness of this layer be selected based on your body weight.
3. Dual microspring layers
The Cloud incorporates two layers of pocketed microsprings, with approximately 3,200 microsprings in a queen size. These springs respond independently to the body, helping provide strong pressure relief and contouring.
4. Honeycomb pocket spring support system
At the base of the mattress is a pocket spring support system featuring 986 springs in a queen size, arranged in a honeycomb pattern. These springs are matched to body weight to help deliver balanced support and good spinal alignment.
For this review we tested two configurations of the Ausbeds Cloud Mattress – the Cloud Medium and the Cloud Firmer. Both share the same core construction, with a natural latex comfort layer sitting above two layers of microsprings, which in turn sit above the main pocket spring support system.
The Cloud Medium configuration uses a soft-density latex layer on top. This version offers plenty of pressure relief and delivers the typical bouncy and responsive feel associated with latex. The quilted cover also adds a nice touch of surface comfort and plushness.
Despite the softness, the latex prevents the mattress from “swallowing” the sleeper in the way some foam-heavy mattresses can.
Overall comfort levels are very good, and our testing team rated the Cloud Medium at 4 out of 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).
Cloud Medium

The Cloud Firmer configuration features a medium-density latex layer above the same dual microspring layers and pocket spring system.
This version feels slightly firmer than the Medium, but still retains the lively, responsive character typical of latex mattresses. There is still plenty of softness and pressure relief present, and overall comfort remains very good.
Our testing team rated the Cloud Firmer at 5 out of 10 on the firmness scale.
Cloud Firmer

Overall, the Ausbeds Cloud mattress is likely to appeal to sleepers who enjoy a softer, more luxurious feel rather than a distinctly firm or rigid sleeping surface.
Please note that our firmness ratings are intended as a guide only and do not necessarily relate directly to comfort. Mattresses with the same firmness rating can feel quite different depending on materials and construction.
Furthermore, these ratings are based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and may differ from firmness ratings provided by manufacturers. Mattress firmness and performance can also vary depending on the type of bed base used.
Across both versions, the underlying spring system feels strong and stable, providing good structural support. Much of the responsiveness comes from the natural latex layer, although the dual microspring layers also contribute additional contouring and bounce.
Each layer responds quickly to movement, making the mattress soft yet lively without feeling overly reactive. As a result, our testing team rated ease of movement within the optimal range.
Responsiveness

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
What else should I know?
The overall build quality of the Ausbeds Cloud Mattress is commendable. The finishing and stitching on the cover look neat and well executed, and the quality of the latex layer also appears solid. During our inspection we did not notice any obvious defects or issues with the materials or craftsmanship.
With a profile of around 31cm, the Cloud sits within the fairly typical height range for modern spring mattresses. As such, standard fitted sheets should generally fit without any issues, unlike some very tall premium mattresses that require extra-deep sheets.
One of the more unusual aspects of the Cloud mattress is its modular construction and setup process. Unlike most mattresses that arrive ready to sleep on, the Cloud requires some assembly, with the internal layers needing to be positioned and zipped into place.
While the concept makes sense – allowing components to be swapped or adjusted over time – the setup process can feel a little cumbersome compared with traditional mattresses. Latex layers are also quite heavy, which can make positioning and aligning the components slightly awkward during setup.
Unlike most mattresses that arrive ready to sleep on, the Cloud requires some assembly.
We also found that the assembly instructions were not immediately obvious, and it took a little patience to work through the process. Once understood it does make sense, but the instructions could perhaps be clearer for first-time users.
In addition to the standard configurations we tested – Cloud Medium and Cloud Firmer – further adjustments can technically be made to refine the firmness. This can be done by rearranging the felt layer and flipping the main spring system, which slightly alters the feel of the mattress.
While this level of adjustability may appeal to those wanting to fine-tune their mattress, it may also add a layer of complexity that many sleepers may not feel the need to use.
Edge support is quite good overall and sits within normal limits for this type of mattress. Sleepers should still be able to utilise most of the mattress surface comfortably.
The perimeter zip used to access the internal components also feels sturdy, with a smooth action and a large pull tab that is easy to grip.

Partner disturbance is present to a small degree. While it is not excessive, we did notice some movement transfer during testing, which may be worth considering for particularly light sleepers.
The mattress also includes two vertically positioned side handles on each side, which appear strong and securely stitched. These handles are generously sized and make it easier to lift, rotate or reposition the mattress.

Bed base compatibility
What type of bed base should I use?
As with most mattresses, we recommend this mattress to be used with a bed base with solid slats (not flexible/posture slats), such as the Atlantis Bed Base.
We would advise against using a bed base with flexible (posture) slats as this type of base may not provide adequate support. Ultimately, the use of an unsupportive mattress foundation may void the mattress warranty.
We do not recommend this mattress be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Warranty and trial period
What happens if I don’t like it?
The Ausbeds Cloud Mattress comes with a 7-month trial period, allowing customers plenty of time to test and fine-tune the mattress at home. During this period, Ausbeds allows up to two free component swaps, meaning layers or spring modules can be adjusted if the mattress feels too soft or too firm.
Because the Cloud uses a modular design, adjustments can usually be made without returning the entire mattress. If the mattress still isn’t suitable after adjustments have been made, Ausbeds can arrange a return during the trial period.
The Ausbeds Cloud mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty. This warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use.
Thanks to the modular construction of the mattress, individual components can also be replaced over time if needed, which may help extend the overall lifespan of the mattress without needing to replace the entire unit.
Available sizes
What size options are available?
The Ausbeds Cloud is available in 5 sizes (king, queen, double, king single, and single) so it should suit all sleeping arrangements.
The graphic below includes all of Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2026. Again, please note that the Ausbeds Cloud is only available in 5 of these sizes.

Final verdict
Is the Ausbeds Cloud right for you?
The Ausbeds Cloud Mattress has a somewhat unusual design, particularly in the way it is assembled and configured.
While we have tested mattresses with interchangeable comfort layers before, the Cloud requires a bit more setup than most, as the internal components need to be arranged and zipped into place. Once assembled, however, it performs well, with the latex comfort layer providing a soft, pressure-relieving feel while still remaining responsive and preventing excessive sinking.
Ausbeds’ approach of recommending firmness based on sleeper weight is also a little different, but it is a logical concept, as heavier sleepers typically benefit from firmer support. Overall, the Cloud delivers a softer, more luxurious feel, so it should appeal most to sleepers who enjoy plenty of comfort and pressure relief rather than a firm sleeping surface.
