The Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress offers very good value and comes with respectable levels of comfort and support. It has a 10 year warranty and uses certified, non-toxic foams.

As with other mattress in a box products, you can order the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress (through the Zinus shop page on Amazon), and it will be delivered to your door in a compact box.

Delivery cost of the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress will depend on your location and our best guess is that the mattress can be delivered Australia-wide (even though this is not specified on Amazon).

This mattress was reasonably easy to remove from its packaging, but as always, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box. As per the product recommendation, we gave the mattress 48 hours to decompress before we conducted our testing.

The mattress comes with an information booklet which was a nice touch, but unfortunately a cutting tool (for the plastic wrapping) was absent.

In terms of pure appearance, the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress presents quite nicely with a simple yet stylish design. It uses a white and grey colour theme, and its brand name label gives it a nice finishing touch.

Comfort and support

The top cover of this mattress is made of a knitted jacquard fabric that feels thick and breathable. This fabric sits over a layer of ‘open cell’ memory foam that offers nice pressure relief. With that said, this layer of memory foam does feel quite spongy, and despite several days of decompression, it seemed a bit uneven in places.

Nevertheless, the mattress responds quite well to movement and changing sleep positions shouldn’t be much trouble. The mattress should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers), but understandably this will depend on each individual.

In terms of firmness, our team rated this configuration as a ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 6.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).

The main support structure of the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress is a pocket spring mattress that uses individually wrapped tempered steel coils. Considering its price, this spring system is quite impressive and feels stable and sturdy.

This spring system should offer adequate back support for people of all sizes, and overall it feels well balanced.

The finer details

In terms of build quality, the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress is reasonable and about what we would expect for the price, and perhaps a little more. Although you can feel the springs through the side of the mattress (a good indicator of overall mattress quality), edge support is good thanks to the reinforced perimeter steel coils.

Partner disturbance is minimal, so a restless partner shouldn’t cause too much trouble. Understandably though, partner disturbance will depend on the size of the occupants of the bed.

This spring system should offer adequate support for people of all sizes, and overall it feels well balanced.

The Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress doesn’t come with a free trial period like many of its competitors, but this isn’t a deal breaker when you consider its price. It does come with a handy 10 year warranty though, so you will have some peace of mind in terms of durability.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Zinus iCoil 33cm Mattress to be used with a solid bed frame or a (solid) ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).

A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.
