The Zanui Drea Pocket Spring Mattress has a firm feel, and is a good value option in the mattress in a box category.
Opening the mattress from its box and packaging only took 5-10 minutes, and the unpacking process was typical of most mattress in a box products we have tested. We felt that it needed a good 24 hours to fully decompress, but realistically it could be slept on after a few hours.
The very top layer of this mattress has a soft and smooth feel, thanks to Zanui’s lovely knit fabric. This fabric sits over a layer of memory foam and latex which does offer some pressure relief, but overall this mattress has a distinct firm feel and wouldn’t suit those who desire a more soft, ‘cloud like’ feel. Our review team rated it a 8/10 on the firmness scale (see below).
The Zanui Drea Pocket Spring Mattress has a nice level of ‘responsiveness’ (bounce) which should provide enough support and weight absorption for most people. Larger sized people may feel the mattress ‘struggle’ a little though, as the spring system doesn’t feel particularly robust. For the price though, this is to be expected.
Overall build quality is reasonable for the price. The top comfort layer does have a touch of quality, but as we mentioned the spring system is a little basic, and the springs can be felt through the fabric on the side of the mattress. Similarly, the absence of side handles shows its price. To give credit where it’s due though, partner disturbance was not significant which does give an indication of decent spring quality.
The Zanui Drea Pocket Spring Mattress retails for $699 (queen size) which is considerably lower than the average mattress in a box in Australia ($1144). It has a 10 year warranty and a 100 night sleep guarantee, figures which compete strongly with the bigger players in the market. Despite some deficiencies, it is a good value option if you are after a more budget priced mattress with a firmer feel.
