The Wowbed Ultimate Mattress is one of the higher end models in the Wowbeds mattress range, that includes the entry level Wowbed Dreamer.
Purchase and delivery
The Wowbed Ultimate Mattress can be conveniently ordered online through the Wowbeds website. Delivery is free and the mattress can be delivered Australia wide.
The mattress was easy to remove from its packaging, but you may need two people to assist with the unboxing. It was noticeably slow to decompress initially, but after 24 hours it appeared ready to test and sleep on.
Aesthetically, the Wowbed Ultimate Mattress combines a classic style with a modern vibe. The mattress uses a grey, gold, and white colour theme, and its brand name embroidery gives it a nice touch of class.
Comfort and support
The Wowbed Ultimate Mattress has a pleasant comfort layer that uses a number of different components. Its top cover is made up of a bamboo fabric that feels soft and luxurious. This sits over multiple layers of comfort foams that includes a layer of memory foam and latex.
This top comfort layer feels foamy and soft, and offers nice pressure relief in all sleeping positions. Our team rated it as a ‘medium / firm’ feel and a 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest). Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Sitting below this sophisticated comfort layer, is a 5 zone pocket spring system. This provides good back support and feels reasonably stable and sturdy. It is not quite as responsive as similarly priced products that we have tested, but nevertheless, it is fairly easy to move around in. A restless partner won’t be a big problem, as motion transfer in this mattress is minimal.
The finer details
Overall build quality of the Wowbed Ultimate Mattress is sound. It feels stable and should suit people of all sizes. Edge support is excellent, thanks to its ‘integrity box edge’, and the ‘Ventex Mesh’ on the sides of the mattress helps to enhance ventilation and airflow.
The Wowbed Ultimate Mattress offers an impressive 120 night trial period and a 10 year warranty. Many customers these days are concerned about strong ‘off gassing’ with mattress in a box products, but we didn’t notice any strong odours while unboxing this mattress.
