Quokka Plus Mattress Review
The Quokka Plus Mattress is a great value option for those who want the feel of 100% natural latex. This mattress also contains a high density support foam which is well certified as eco-friendly and non-toxic.
The latex used in the Quokka Plus Mattress is 100% botanical natural latex sourced from Vietnam. It has been thoroughly tested for durability, health, and eco-friendliness. This latex has an extensive network of ventilation holes, which helps to regulate temperature and prevent overheating.
This mattress can be ordered in different variations:
- 16cm with bamboo cover
- 24cm with bamboo cover
- 24cm with organic cotton cover
In the 2 layered options, the mattress sits quite low (16cm) which should be considered when selecting your bed base. The ‘medium’ feel version feels very similar to the All-latex equivalent. It is comfortable with nice pressure relief, and although there was a slight reduction in responsiveness (bounce), it was pretty difficult to spot the difference. There was certainly no undesirable sinking or dipping despite its low profile. The medium-firm version is firmer and more supportive. Again, hard to feel the difference between the all-latex version, and may be more noticeable with larger people. It still has a nice bounce and doesn’t feel ‘hard or uncomfortable.
The 3 layered options have a more ‘standard’ height (24cm) as with the all-latex option. We weren’t able to test out any of the 3 layered versions in the Quokka Plus range but we would assume there would be less responsiveness with these versions compared with the equivalent all-latex options. This may even be a good thing if you want to take the edge of the ‘rubbery feel’ of natural latex.
The Quokka Plus Mattress has a natural bamboo outer cover that is sourced from Southern China – home to the largest sustainable bamboo forests in the world. This cover feels cool, breathable, and comfortable.
Overall, we found this mattress to be a strong contender in the latex mattress market. It is a more affordable option of Quokka’s all-latex model, and depending on your preference, this could easily be as good as the all latex model. With a range of firmness options, this is a very good value mattress if you like the natural feel of pure latex.

Our organically-sourced latex from Vietnam is certified by ECO-institut (Germany) as 100% natural botanical latex with no added petroleum-based or synthetic latex, also meeting strict standards for pollutants and harmful emissions. This ensures there are no additives in our latex that could damage the quality, consistency or healthiness of your mattress. Our natural latex has also passed stringent durability tests, which is one of the reasons we can offer a market-leading 20-year warranty. Further, our latex uses the ‘Dunlop’ method of production due to its lower environmental footprint and durability advantages over the ‘Talalay’ method.

The vast majority of people will suit a mattress within this range, and it is what we strongly recommend to first-time buyers. However, if you know exactly what you want (maybe you have purchased from us before or tested our mattresses in-store), you can simply add a note on checkout to order a custom configuration.

Care
- For maximum protection, we would highly recommend a mattress cover
- Always use the mattress with its 2 included covers. To clean, unzip them and hand wash with cold water and mild detergent. Air dry. Can be spot cleaned and dry-cleaned.
- For a quick wash – you can simply unzip the top layer of your bamboo cover and wash it – without lifting or moving the mattress at all!
