Purchase and delivery
As with other bed in a box products, the Optimal Support Mattress can be conveniently ordered online (through the Mobile Mattress website) and it will arrive at your door in a box. Delivery is free, and Mobile Mattress deliver Australia wide.
As usual, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box, although it is still possible with one person. We would also allow 24 hours to pass (to allow for decompression) before sleeping on this mattress.
Comfort and support
The Optimal Support Mattress has a comfort layer that starts with a Gen-Knit fabric cover that feels soft and breathable. This cover sits over a comfort layer of viscoelastic memory foam which is certified as non-toxic by Certi-PUR. This offers nice pressure relief and absorbs body weight evenly.
Based on our testing, our team rated it as a ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 6.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest). Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Under the comfort layer of the Optimal Support Mattress lies a 5 zone pocket spring system. This feels balanced, supportive, and should be adequate for people of most sizes. This spring unit also responds nicely to normal sleep movements, so turning over in bed won’t cause any major trouble.
The finer details
The overall build quality of this mattress is reasonable. Edge support is decent and although partner disturbance is present, it will depend on the size of the occupants. It’s also worth noting here that the Optimal Support Mattress has a 10 year warranty.
