The Odyssey Mattress is a nice, firm mattress that offers good value. It has excellent back support via its 7 zone pocket spring system.
Purchase and delivery
As with other bed in a box products, the Odyssey Mattress can be conveniently ordered online (through the Mobile Mattress website) and it will arrive at your door in a box. Delivery is free, and Mobile Mattress deliver Australia wide.
As usual, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box. We would also allow 24 hours to pass (to allow for decompression) before sleeping on this mattress.
Comfort and support
The Odyssey Mattress uses a bamboo quilting cover that feels soft and breathable. This cover sits over a layer of dual layer of 100% natural latex and an eco-friendly support foam. This support foam is certified as non-toxic (by Certi-PUR) and combined with the latex, offers nice pressure relief.
Although this mattress is firm, it certainly doesn’t feel ‘hard’. Based on our testing, our team rated it as a ‘firm’ feel and an 8 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest). Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
Under the comfort layers of the Odyssey Mattress is a 7 zone pocket spring system. This feels strong, responsive, and and offers excellent spinal support. It doesn’t produce any undesirable sinking and it should be adequate for people of most sizes.
The finer details
The overall build quality of this mattress is highly respectable. Edge support is sound and although partner disturbance is present, it is certainly not significant. It’s also worth noting here that the Odyssey Mattress has a 15 year warranty.
Although this mattress is firm, it certainly doesn’t feel hard.
