Moshult Review
The Moshult is a very basic, foam mattress that may not provide adequate comfort for regular use. With that said, it offers a good value solution for temporary sleep arrangements.
Purchase and delivery
This mattress can be ordered online, and delivery is available Australia-wide (see full delivery information in our ‘Delivery’ section below). It can also be purchased through any of IKEA’s stores across Australia.
Aesthetically, the Moshult presents with a plain, simple appearance. It uses a white colour theme and has a brand name label at its base.
Comfort and support
The Moshult has a removable and washable cover that is made up of (64%) cotton and (36%) polyester. This cover feels breathable and the zip mechanism is generally smooth.
This cover sits over a dense, convoluted foam that feels hard and cheap. Its level of comfort is poor, and it won’t provide long lasting support for larger sized people.
We rated the Moshult as an ‘extra firm’ feel and a 8.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
The finer details
In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Moshult is very basic. It only sits 10cm high, and its quality and finishings seem rather unrefined.
Please note that we do not recommend the Moshult to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
Available sizes
The Moshult is available in 3 sizes (queen, double, and single) so it should suit most sleeping arrangements. Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2021.
Final verdict
The Moshult comes with an attractive price tag, but we wouldn’t recommend it for regular use. It is hard, uncomfortable, and has an unsophisticated construction.

All of our mattresses can be used immediately, but keep in mind that a packaged mattress only regains its full shape and comfort after approximately 72 hours. Your body also needs a couple of weeks to adapt to the new mattress.
Sometimes the mattress has a noticeable smell when you open the packaging. The smell isn’t harmful or toxic and disappears over time. Airing and vacuuming the mattress helps to eliminate the smell faster.
