Morgedal Review
The Morgedal is made predominantly with synthetic latex and offers respectable levels of comfort and support. It also comes with IKEA’s impressive 25 year warranty.
Purchase and delivery
This mattress can be ordered online, and delivery is available Australia-wide (see full delivery information in our ‘Delivery’ section below). It can also be purchased through any of IKEA’s stores across Australia.
Aesthetically, the Morgedal presents with a somewhat simple appearance. It uses a white and grey colour theme along with a brand name label at its base.
Comfort and support
This mattress has a comfort layer that includes a cotton and polyester fabric, and soft fillings. This does provide a fair level of pressure relief, but its level of comfort is far from luxurious.
We rated the Morgedal as an ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
The support structure in the Morgedal consists of a thick layer of synthetic latex and a layer of polyurethane foam. This provides decent back support and feels more stable than most other IKEA mattresses. It should accommodate people of all sizes.
The finer details
In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Morgedal is about average, and fair in context of its price. It does come with side handles, and its quality and finishings seem of decent quality.
Please note that we do not recommend the Morgedal to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
Available sizes
The Morgedal is available in 4 sizes (king, queen, double, and single) so it should suit most sleeping arrangements. Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2021.
Final verdict
The Morgedal is a decent mattress option that is reasonably priced. It offers a good level of back support, but it isn’t quite up to standard in terms of comfort.

All of our mattresses can be used immediately, but keep in mind that a packaged mattress only regains its full shape and comfort after approximately 72 hours. Your body also needs a couple of weeks to adapt to the new mattress.
Sometimes the mattress has a noticeable smell when you open the packaging. The smell isn’t harmful or toxic and disappears over time. Airing and vacuuming the mattress helps to eliminate the smell faster.
