Comfort and quality
The ‘minky’ fabric on the top surface feels lovely. The underside fabric does feel a little substandard in terms of quality and is a little rough.
Even though the 5kg is the lightest size in this collection, the Minky Weighted Blanket with Cover had a nice level of weight and should feel soothing for people between 35-60kgs. As you will see below, heavier sized blankets are recommended for larger people.
This blanket regulates temperature well. We found it to be warm, but didn’t overheat, even after several hours.
The edges of the blanket are finished with a section of stitched fabric, and also the zipper.
The finer details
The cover of this blanket is machine washable on a gentle cycle. This means that it should be easy to keep your blanket clean. Bleaching the cover is not recommended, and tumble drying is recommended on a low setting. An iron can also be used on low heat.
One impressive design feature about this blanket is the dual zip design. To remove the outer cover (for washing), you need to unzip the small zipper, and then unzip the larger zipper (pictured below). This is the first time we have seen this designed feature.
The larger zipper is important as it keeps the inner section of the blanket in place during use. This removes the frustrating situation with a blanket or a quilt where the cover and inside come apart.
