LLAMA Sirocco Review

The LLAMA Sirocco is a foam mattress contains a collection of comfort foams. Its low profile makes it suitable for caravans or bunk beds.

This mattress is part of Amart Furniture’s ‘Online Exclusive Range’. It can be ordered online through the Amart website and will arrive at your door in a compact box. Delivery is available Australia-wide and shipping costs (and times) will vary – see details in our ‘Delivery’ section below. This mattress is not available to buy in-store.

Aesthetically, the LLAMA Sirocco presents with a basic but clean look. It uses a white colour theme along with blue stitching and a nice brand name label.

Comfort and support

This mattress uses a poly jacquard cover cover that feels soft and breathable. This cover encases a layer of ultra-cooling gel infused memory foam, and additional comfort foams. This provides a soft, spongy feel that is reasonably comfortable. It moulds to the body well and offers plenty of pressure relief.

We rated the LLAMA Sirocco as a ‘medium’ feel and a 6 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

Due to its low profile and foam construction, this mattress may not provide adequate spinal support if used regularly. Caution must also be applied with larger people, as the bed base may be felt through the mattress.

Due its foam structure, the LLAMA Sirocco doesn’t responds well to normal sleep movements. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) is likely to be difficult.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the LLAMA Sirocco is basic, but about right for the price. It lacks side handles, and edge support is soft, meaning that you may not be able to use the entire surface of the mattress.

One advantage this mattress does have, is its low profile (20 cm) and its light weight (23.29 kg queen size). This makes it practical for transport, and could be an option for a caravan.

The LLAMA Sirocco comes with a 5 year warranty, but unfortunately does not have a trial period.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the LLAMA Sirocco to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Sleep Republic Pro Base), or a solid ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).

A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.

Final verdict

The LLAMA Sirocco is a basic foam mattress but its levels of comfort are reasonable. It would be most suitable for temporary sleep arrangements, as a caravan mattress, or a bunk mattress.
