The LLAMA Elysee 15cm is a basic innerspring mattress that offers a budget option in the mattress in a box category. It has a 2 year warranty but would only be suitable for temporary sleep arrangements.

Purchase and delivery

This mattress is part of Amart Furniture’s ‘Online Exclusive Range’. It can be ordered online through the Amart website and will arrive at your door in a compact box. Delivery is available Australia-wide and shipping costs (and times) will vary – see details in our ‘Delivery’ section below. This mattress is not available to buy in-store.

Aesthetically, the LLAMA Elysee 15cm does look cheap. It uses a white colour theme along with a turquoise piping and nice brand name label.

Comfort and support

This mattress starts with a soft microfibre quilting that sits over a layer of comfort foam. This provides some pressure relief, but pure comfort levels are noticeably lacking.

We rated the LLAMA Elysee 15cm as a ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

This mattress uses heavy gauge support coils as its main support system. This spring unit feels cheap and flimsy, and its level of spinal support is questionable. A restless partner will likely be a problem too, as the springs don’t isolate motion well at all.

The LLAMA Elysee 15cm responds excessively to normal sleep movements. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) will feel overly bouncy.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the LLAMA Elysee 15cm is very basic. It lacks side handles, and edge support is poor, meaning that you may not be able to use the entire surface of the mattress.

You can feel the springs through the side of the mattress (an indicator of poor quality) and its quality and finishings appear unsophisticated.

The LLAMA Elysee 15cm comes with a 2 year warranty, but unfortunately does not have a trial period.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the LLAMA Elysee 15cm to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Sleep Republic Pro Base), or a solid ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).

A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.
