The Liquorice Bedhead & Base is a premium quality bed base that makes up part of the Dusk&Dawn bedding range. It only requires a minimal amount of assembling, and comes in two stylish options.
Purchase and delivery
The Liquorice Bedhead & Base can be ordered online (through the Dusk&Dawn website) and will arrive at your door in 2 pieces (base and bedhead). Dusk&Dawn offers free delivery to metro areas.
This base can be ordered in two different styles – ‘plain’ which has a flat, smooth headboard, or a ‘panelling’ which has a number of grooves in the headboard.
Assembling
The Liquorice Bedhead & Base is easy to set up and only requires a few simple actions. Once you have screwed on the 5 wooden legs, the headboard simply slides in via metal grooves. Unpacking and ‘assembling’ this bed base should only take around 5 minutes.
Setting up this bed base doesn’t require any tools (Allen keys, screwdrivers, spanners) but we would strongly recommend having two people on hand.
Once assembled, the Liquorice Bedhead & Base has a definite presence. The position of the legs give it somewhat of a ‘floating appearance’, and both options have a simple yet stylish appearance.
Stability and practicality
The Liquorice Bedhead & Base uses slats that are 8cm thick, with a 14cm distance between each slat. The height of the bed (with legs attached) is approximately 30cm. Once the bedhead is attached, the height of the bedhead is 140cm (with panelling) and 130cm (plain).
The bed base feels stable and sturdy. The headboard would be best placed against a wall, but is still reasonably stable without any wall support. The headboard has soft padding, making it perfect for sitting or reading.
Overall build quality is excellent, and the slats should allow for good ventilation. It’s also worth noting that there is a 18 cm (in height) of storage space underneath.

The Liquorice Bedhead & Base is available in all 7 sizes (super king, king, queen, double, king single, long single, and single) so it should accommodate most sleeping arrangements.
