This bed base comes in a warm ash colour which is essentially a light brown tone. It should suit most bedroom styles, particularly those with a natural, wooden theme.

Assembling

As mentioned above, the Koala Kirribilli Bed Base has many parts and pieces, but with some basic preparation, it is easy to assemble.

It’s worth noting that there will be a substantial amount of cardboard to dispose of. What was admirable though, was that there was no plastic packaging. So, a big tick for Koala in terms of their commitment to the environment.

We would recommend having two people on hand to assemble this bed base. We would also recommend consulting the instruction booklet to lay out the pieces properly, according to its final position within the bed base.

Assembling this base doesn’t require any tools (Allen keys, screwdrivers, spanners) and the screws and bolts are easily managed by hand. It should only take around 15 minutes to assemble, once all of the packaging is removed.

Stability and practicality

Once assembled, the Koala Kirribilli Bed Base is very strong and sturdy. It uses 4 ‘panel slats’ that create an even surface that should suit almost any mattress. The headboard feels notably strong, and shouldn’t produce any rattling or squeaking.

Overall build quality is excellent, and the panel slats should allow for good ventilation. It’s also worth noting that there is about 18cm of of storage space underneath.

The Koala Kirribilli Bed Base includes wide side panels that create a strong perimeter. These side panels may also potentially increase the edge support of your mattress.

The bed base design involves a small lip around the mattress. This lip will also prevent your mattress from moving off the base.

This bed base includes some felt stickers on the bottom of each leg. This is a nice touch by Koala that will make it easier to slide on wooden floors.
