Husvika (Discontinued)

The Husvika is frankly a terrible mattress. It feels cheap, flimsy, and we wouldn't recommended it to used on a regular basis.

Husvika

Husvika Review

The Husvika only comes in a single size mattress and is presumably designed for kids. It has well below average levels of comfort and support and so would only be suitable for short term sleeping arrangements.

Purchase and delivery

This mattress can be ordered online, and delivery is available Australia-wide (see full delivery information in our ‘Delivery’ section below). It can also be purchased through any of IKEA’s stores across Australia.

Aesthetically, the Husvika presents with a very simple appearance. It uses a white and beige colour theme along with a brand name label at its base.

Comfort and support

This mattress has a comfort layer that includes a cotton and polyester fabric and polyester wadding. As you may have guessed from the product description, this section offers very little comfort.

To make matters worse, you can actually feel the springs through the comfort layer. This creates a hard, uncomfortable feel that would likely be disruptive during sleep.

Husvika

We rated the Husvika as an ‘extra-firm’ feel and a 8.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.

The support structure used in the Husvika is a Bonnell spring system. This spring unit feels incredibly cheap and bouncy and its levels of support and stability are simply awful. It will struggle under the weight of larger sized people.

The finer details

In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Husvika is noticeably substandard. It does not come with side handles, and its quality and finishings are cheap and unrefined.

Husvika

Please note that we do not recommend the Husvika to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

Available sizes

The Husvika is only available in 1 size (single) so it will not suit all sleeping arrangements. Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2021.

Final verdict

The Husvika is frankly a terrible mattress. It feels cheap, flimsy, and we wouldn’t recommended it to used on a regular basis.

Specifications – Husvika

  • Mattress Height: 12 cm

A good choice for your day-bed. It’s perfectly dimensioned and the Bonnell springs ensure a comfy, restful sleep.

The height and width of this mattress fit perfectly in IKEA day-beds and children’s extendable beds (when fully-extended).

Your body gets comfortable support the entire night since the mattress has Bonnell springs.

Easy to bring home since the mattress is roll packed.

The zipper is child-safe since we took away the tab on the zip. To open and close, insert a paper clip through the loop. Make sure you always remove the paper clip afterwards.

25 year guarantee. Read about the terms in the guarantee brochure.

All of our mattresses can be used immediately, but keep in mind that a packaged mattress only regains its full shape and comfort after approximately 72 hours. Your body also needs a couple of weeks to adapt to the new mattress.

Sometimes the mattress has a noticeable smell when you open the packaging. The smell isn’t harmful or toxic and disappears over time. Airing and vacuuming the mattress helps to eliminate the smell faster.

We sleep for one-third of our lives, which also means we spend roughly one-third of our life on different kinds of mattresses. Needless to say – a mattress matters!
