The Dream Elegance 5500 Comfort is a firm, supportive mattress that offers decent value. It lacks the refinement of some of its competitors in this price bracket but it does come with a 10 year warranty.

Purchase and delivery

This mattress can be ordered online, and delivery is available Australia-wide (see delivery times in our ‘Delivery’ section further down). It can also be purchased through any of Amart Furniture’s 69 stores across Australia.

Visually, the Dream Elegance 5500 Comfort presents nicely and has a simple, classic style. It uses a grey, gold, and white colour combination along with brand name embroidery.

Comfort and support

The top comfort layer consists of a stretch Tencel ticking cover and latex and foam comfort layers underneath. These layers offer modest pressure relief, and feel rather dense.

We rated the Dream Elegance 5500 Comfort as a ‘firm’ feel and a 8 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.

The spring system used in the Dream Elegance 5500 Comfort is a ‘7 Zone 6 Turn Pocket Spring Support System‘. This system offers good support but does lack the quality and stability of other spring systems we have tested. Nevertheless, it should accommodate people of most sizes and offers a nice level of responsiveness.

The finer details

In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, this mattress is reasonable. It does have side handles to allow for easy lifting, and edge support is firm. Its overall quality of trims and finishings also appear to be well made.

Partner disturbance shouldn’t be an issue, this will understandably depend on the size of the occupants of the bed.
