The SleepMaker Miracoil Support Firm is comfortable and supportive – very similar to the super firm version. Has a slightly bouncy feel but partner disturbance seems minimal. A serious contender for under $2000. Go and try this one out.
Sealy Posturepedic Navi Plush (Discontinued)
The Sealy Posturepedic Navi Plush is comfortable but has a somewhat ‘flimsy’ top layer to it and as such there may be some partner disturbance. Spinal support is decent but for the price we think it’s a hard sell.
Sealy Posturepedic Navi Medium (Discontinued)
The Sealy Posturepedic Navi Medium like the plush version has this flimsy top layer to it. Feels a little ‘bouncy’ but fairly supportive. There may be some partner disturbance here. A hard sell for the price.
Sealy Posturepedic Hampstead Firm (Discontinued)
The Sealy Posturepedic Hampstead Firm is well built but we just don’t like the overall feel of this mattress. It is supportive but just doesn’t absorb the body well. There may be some partner disturbance also.
Sealy Posturepedic Trafalgar Firm (Discontinued)
The Sealy Posturepedic Trafalgar Firm is a little bouncy with a bit of partner disturbance but otherwise is a comfortable and supportive mattress. The only major problem is that heft price tag. If you have the cash and you really like the feel of this mattress, we won’t talk you out of it.
Sealy Active Firm (Discontinued)
The Sealy Active Firm has a ‘spongy’ feel to it but is quite comfortable and supportive. There may be some partner disturbance but for under $1000 this is a serious contender. Go and try it out.
Tempur Serene Sensation Medium (Discontinued)
The Tempur Serene Sensation Medium has a dense and heavy feel to it like a lot of the Tempur mattresses and the spinal support is good. Because of the density of the foam, there isn’t a lot of ‘body sinking’ which may be an issue for some people.
Tempur Hydra Cloud Plush (Discontinued)
The Tempur Hydra Cloud Plush feels soft, comfortable, and has good spinal support. As always with the Tempur mattresses, partner disturbance is non-existent but if you’re a ‘hot sleeper’ the Tempur foams may not be for you as they get quite hot.
Tempur Original Traditional 23 (Discontinued)
The Tempur Original Traditional 23 has that familiar Tempur ‘dense’ feel and this particular mattress is quite hard and not particularly comfortable. As with all Tempur mattresses, partner disturbance is non-existent and the 15-year warranty is outstanding.
Tempur Asteria Original Firm (Discontinued)
The Tempur Asteria Original Firm feels very dense and would be too firm for many. Not particularly comfortable. Partner disturbance is virtually non-existent but there are better Tempur products.
Tempur Asteria Cloud Plush (Discontinued)
The Tempur Asteria Cloud Plush is soft and comfortable. Because of the density of this Tempur foam, spinal support is also very good. Partner disturbance, as with all Tempur products, is virtually non-existent. Pricy but a good combination of comfort and support.
King Koil Chiro Luxury Super Firm (Discontinued)
The King Koil Chiro Luxury Super Firm is hard and doesn’t hug the body well. There is this strange floating feeling to this mattress as well. Well-built and partner disturbance seems minimal but overall we aren’t convinced on this one. Big price tag as well.
