The Allay Nature Soft presents with a simple, natural style. It uses a white and beige colour theme to match its eco-friendly status. Its finishings and brand labelling demonstrate a respectable level of quality.

Comfort and support

The top surface of this mattress includes a bamboo knitted fabric, a wool blend, and multiple layers of comfort foams. These comfort foams have all been treated with Ultra Fresh to help minimise bacteria and mould.

This top comfort layer feels soft, comfortable, and offers plenty of pressure relief. It should suit most side sleepers, but it may also suit back sleepers and stomach sleepers. Understandably though, this suitability will vary between individuals.

We rated the Allay Nature Soft as a ‘medium’ feel and a 5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

The spring system used in the Allay Nature Soft is a 5 Zone Indie Coil Pocket Spring. This spring unit feels well balanced, and supports the spine well. Underneath this spring system lies another two layers of Ultra Fresh treated foam.

The Allay Nature Soft responds nicely to normal sleep movements and we rated its level of responsiveness in the optimal zone. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Allay Nature Soft is sound. Edge support is good and the lack of side handles is disappointing.

It’s worth noting here that the soft plush comfort layer of HD Dunlop foam is certified by GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia). Additionally, the high density foam layer is approved by the National Asthma Council Australia.

In terms of after sales service, this mattress is well backed with a 100 night trial period and a 10 year warranty.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Allay Nature Soft to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Chiropedic Bed Base), or a solid ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).

A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.

Furthermore, we do not recommend the Allay Nature Soft to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this will also void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
