The Active Sleep Venetian Firm forms the firmest version in the Active Sleep Venetian range. It is a well priced mattress that offers a firm, supportive feel.

Aesthetically, the Active Sleep Venetian Firm presents with a modern, ‘space age’ style. It sits 28cm high, and uses grey and white colour theme. Its brand name label at its base gives it a nice touch.
Comfort and support
The top comfort layer of this mattress is made up of a breathable fabric and a layer of gel-infused visco memory foam. These comfort materials provide some pressure relief, but the mattress does feel noticeably firm.
The mattress should suit most back sleepers, but it may also suit some side sleepers and stomach sleepers. Understandably though, this suitability will vary between individuals.
We rated the Active Sleep Venetian Firm as a ‘firm’ feel and an 8.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. The support structure used in the Active Sleep Venetian Firm is a 3-zone nested pocketed spring system. Although it isn’t as robust as other spring units we have tested, it still offers good spinal support and should also accommodate people of most sizes.
The Active Sleep Venetian Firm responds fairly well to normal sleep movements. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be much trouble.
Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Active Sleep Venetian Firm is respectable. Edge support is firm, but the lack of side handles is disappointing.
Partner disturbance isn’t significant, but this will depend on the size of the occupants of the bed.
It’s worth noting here that this mattress has a 10 year warranty.
What bed base should I use?
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Active Sleep Venetian Firm to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Chiropedic Bed Base), or a solid ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).
A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.
Furthermore, we do not recommend the Active Sleep Venetian Firm to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this will also void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
