Purchase and delivery

The Boutique Mattress can be conveniently ordered online (through the Mattress Crafters’ website) and will be delivered to your door in a compact box.

Delivery is free to most metro areas, and delivery times will vary. ‘Same day’ delivery is available for Melbourne metropolitan customers if orders are placed before midday (weekdays only). For more details, see our ‘Delivery’ section further down.

The box arrived in good condition and the mattress was easy to remove from its box and packaging. As usual, we recommend having two people available to unpack a mattress in a box.

As per our standard testing procedure, we allowed the product to decompress for 24 hours before testing.

Visually, the Boutique Mattress has a rather ‘classic’ appearance. It sits 32cm high (which is about average height for an innerspring mattress) and uses a grey and white colour theme.

The brand and model embroidery gives it a definite touch of class.

Comfort and support

The top comfort layer of the Boutique Mattress includes a high density quilted foam, plus layers of memory foam, convoluted foam, and comfort foam.

Although the mattress is on the firmer side, these comfort layers create a smooth and well balanced sleeping surface. The mattress should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers) but understandably, its suitability will vary between individuals.

Based on our testing, our team rated it as a ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

Sitting below this comfort layer is the ‘CrafterCoil’ 7 zone pocket spring system. This feels stable, responsive, and offers reliable spinal support. It should accommodate people of all sizes.

This spring system also isolates sleep movements very well, so partner disturbance is minimal.

The Boutique Mattress responds nicely to normal sleep movements and we rated its level of responsiveness as ‘optimal’. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

The Boutique Mattress has good edge support, so you should be able to use the entire mattress surface without the fear of falling off the edge. The lack of side handles was disappointing, but thankfully the mattress isn’t particularly heavy.

The Boutique Mattress is an impressive mattress that is incredibly well priced.

The Boutique Mattress comes with a 100 night ‘comfort guarantee’. This means that you must try the mattress for at least 30 nights before the option to return the mattress (for a refund) comes into play.

Once you have tried the mattress for 30 nights, you then have the option to return the mattress within the following 70 day period.

It’s worth noting that the foam components in this mattress have been certified as non-toxic by SGS Australia, one of the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company. The fabrics in this product have also been certified as non-toxic (OEKO-TEX®).

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Boutique Mattress to be used with a sturdy bed frame with solid slats (such as the Chiropedic Bed Base). We also recommend that these slats are no longer than 8 cm apart.

A bed frame with ‘flexible’ (posture) slats may still be adequate, but please note that any unsupportive mattress foundation will void the warranty for this mattress.

The Boutique Mattress is an impressive mattress that is incredibly well priced. Its level of refinement compares to mattresses far more expensive, and its 15 year warranty is noteworthy.
