Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle Review
The Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle is Australian made and forms the softest version in the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate range.
Purchase and delivery
This mattress can be ordered online through the Forty Winks website. It can also be purchased through any of Forty Winks’ stores across Australia.
Delivery is available Australia-wide but delivery fees (and times) do vary. Online delivery fees are based on your location from the nearest store, and delivery times will depend on stock availability. For more details, see our ‘Delivery’ section below.
Visually, the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle presents with a simple and rather uninspiring appearance. It sits 34 cm high and uses a white and grey colour theme.
Comfort and support
The top comfort layer of this mattress includes a knitted fabric that sits over various comfort foams. This comfort layer offers plenty of pressure relief, but its overall level of comfort isn’t as impressive as others in this price bracket.
The mattress should suit all sleeping positions (back sleepers, side sleepers, and stomach sleepers) but this suitability will vary between individuals.
We rated the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle as a ‘medium’ feel and a 5.5 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.
The support structure used in the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle is a Titanium Align-Support® system. This spring unit feels flimsy and unstable – typical of most Sealy Posturepedic spring systems. Its level of spinal support and stability is deficient, and partner disturbance will likely be an issue as well.
In terms of responsiveness, we rated the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle as somewhat excessive. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) will involve more movement than is usually desired.
Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.
The finer details
In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle is respectable. Edge support is reasonable, and side handles should make it easy to transport and rotate the mattress.
It’s worth noting here that this mattress is Australian made and has a 10 year warranty.
What bed base should I use?
As with most mattresses, we recommend the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Sleep Republic Pro Base), or a solid ensemble base (with the slats no longer than 8 cm apart).
A bed frame (with flexible slats) may still be adequate, but again, we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.
Sleep Republic Pro Base
Furthermore, we do not recommend the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this will also void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.
Available sizes
The Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle is available in 7 sizes (super king, king, queen, double, king single, long single and single ) so it should suit all sleeping arrangements.
Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2021.
Final verdict
The Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Seattle doesn’t meet the standards of other similarly priced mattresses that we have tested. Its levels of comfort and support are questionable, and its spring system is noticeably unstable.
