The ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress is a good value, innerspring mattress that is available to purchase through Bedding Warehouse. It is well balanced with comfort and support, and comes with a 10 year warranty.

Purchase and delivery

Just like other beds in a box, the ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress can be ordered online and will be delivered to your door in a compact box. Delivery is free but the mattress is only available for delivery to Melbourne metro. See full delivery details below in our ‘Delivery’ section further down.

The ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress box arrived in good condition and should only take 5-10 minutes to unpack. As with all mattress in a box products, we allowed it to decompress for 24 hours before testing.

We highly recommend having two people on hand to unpack a bed in a box.

From a visual perspective, the ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress has a sleek, modern look. It sits 28cm high and uses a grey and white colour theme.

Mattress construction

From top to bottom, the ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress starts with an ‘Ice Silk Cooling Quilted Cover. As the name suggests, this cover is designed to prevent overheating and feels smooth and soft.

Underneath this top cover lies a ‘PostureFoam’ High Density Comfort Layer and a Gel PhysioFoam Support Layer. PhysioFoam is specially designed to enhance comfort and pressure relief.

These comfort materials sit over a ‘Merlin Advanced Multi Zone Pocket Spring System’. This spring unit is designed to provide different levels of support in different areas of the body.

The mattress perimeter is surrounded with an ‘EdgeGuard Xtreme Border Support. This is added to improve edge support and maximise the sleeping surface of the mattress.

Comfort and support

The ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress has a nice, comfortable feel that absorbs bodyweight smoothly. It should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers,  and stomach sleepers) but understandably, this suitability will vary between individuals.

Our team rated this mattress a ‘medium’ feel and a 6 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest).

Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

The pocket spring system feels stable and supportive. It offers good spinal support, and should accommodate people of most sizes.

The mattress responds well to normal sleep movements in all configurations and we rated its level of responsiveness in the ‘optimal’ zone. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

The overall build quality of the ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress is respectable. Edge support is reasonable thanks to to the enhanced border support, so the user should be able to use the entire surface of the mattress without fear of rolling off the edge.’

Partner disturbance is not significant, so a restless partner shouldn’t be a major issue. Of course, partner disturbance will depend on the size of the occupants of the bed, and is generally less on a larger size mattress (e.g. king size).

The lack of side handles is disappointing, as this makes moving and rotating the mattress more difficult.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress to be used with a solid bed frame with ‘rigid’ slats (such as the Sleep Republic Pro Base). It is recommended that the space between the slats does not exceed 8cm.

Sleep Republic Pro Base

Neither a bed frame with flexible (posture) slats or an adjustable bed base are recommended for this mattress as they may void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.

The ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress is available in 3 sizes (king, queen, and double) so it should suit most adult sleeping arrangements.

Final verdict

The ChiroSense Ultrapedic Mattress is a highly serviceable, bed in a box that comes with nice comfort layers and a good spring system. Keep in mind though that this mattress is only available for delivery to Melbourne metro.
