Myrbacka Review
The Myrbacka is a full foam mattress that offers a respectable level of support. It feels predominantly firm and dense, and is reasonably priced.
Purchase and delivery
This mattress can be ordered online, and delivery is available Australia-wide (see full delivery information in our ‘Delivery’ section below). It can also be purchased through any of IKEA’s stores across Australia.
Aesthetically, the Myrbacka presents with a simple, yet stylish appearance. It uses a white and grey colour theme along with a brand name label at its base.
Comfort and support
This mattress has a comfort layer that includes a cotton and polyester fabric, soft fillings, and memory foam. This does provide a fair level of pressure relief, but it does feel firm and dense.
We rated the Myrbacka as an ‘medium-firm’ feel and a 7 / 10 on the firmness scale. Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort.
The support structure in the Myrbacka consists of a high resilience support foam and a layer of polyurethane foam. This provides decent back support and feels reasonably stable.
Although it doesn’t possess the ‘responsiveness’ of many innerspring mattresses, it should accomodate people of most sizes (in terms of weight).
The finer details
In terms of build quality and craftsmanship, the Myrbacka is about average, and fair in context of its price. It does come with side handles, and its quality and finishings seem of decent quality.
Please note that we do not recommend the Myrbacka to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.
Available sizes
The Myrbacka is available in 4 sizes (king, queen, double, and single) so it should suit most sleeping arrangements. Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2021.
Final verdict
The Myrbacka is a decent full foam mattress that offers good support. With that said, there are better options in this price bracket.

All of our mattresses can be used immediately, but keep in mind that a packaged mattress only regains its full shape and comfort after approximately 72 hours.
Your body also needs a couple of weeks to adapt to the new mattress.
Sometimes the mattress has a noticeable smell when you open the packaging. The smell isn’t harmful or toxic and disappears over time. Airing and vacuuming the mattress helps to eliminate the smell faster.
