Heavyweight Percale Sheet Set Review
Bedbuyer’s Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Heavyweight Percale Sheet Set feel cool and crisp and are an excellent overall product from the good sheet.
As the name suggests, they have a nice, thick feel that resemble high quality hotel sheets. Furthermore, they feel strong and durable, and are ideal for higher profile mattresses due to their notably high depth. They also have strong elastic which prevents these sheets from shifting position during the night.

Remember slipping into bed at grandma’s when you were a kid? The way the sheets rustled and your feet felt a little cold at first but soon you were tucked in and cosy and warm. Those were the best sheets.
Well, these sheets are it. The old fashioned type of sheets, that grandma used to have and you can still find in the best hotels. Cool and crisp, the kind that snap when you fold them. Thick, heavyweight, a little bit stiff, and yes, a bit wrinkly but oh, so wonderfully smooth and comfortable.
We’ve had so many requests for thick cotton sheets, we’ve searched high and low to find someone who could weave these especially for us, the way sheets used to be made. It took months but we finally found an amazing team in India who could create what we were after. Thicker yarn, lower thread count in a simple percale weave – tight and durable, not stretchy or drapey, and won’t fluff up or pill.
Made from 100% good quality long-staple GOTS certified organic cotton, so you can be absolutely certain these are the healthiest sheets you can put next to your skin.
They will only get softer and smoother with use and if you look after them, one day you might even be passing them on to your own grandkids.
We’ve carefully considered how to make these better than all the rest and have included a lot of thoughtful details:
- GOTS certified organic cotton
- 40cm deep fitted sheet (Single, Double)
- 50cm deep fitted sheet (Queen, King)
- Deep 22cm envelope on pillowcases
- Fitted sheet has french seams and thick, extra strong elastic
- Tags on fitted sheet to indicate short side / long side
- Woven size tags on everything to make it easier to find the right set
- Generously sized flat sheet
We set out to make seriously good sheets for lovers of nature and sleep.
Our bedding is crafted from the finest long staple cotton by the world’s best makers.
We have partnered with one of the world’s oldest and most experienced textile factories, in the Guimarães region of Portugal to produce our luxury lightweight percale. A leading mill in India creates our specially woven, GOTS-certified organic, heavyweight cotton percale. Ethically made with 100% wind power while recycling 99% of water used in production.
Every one of our products is sourced from ethical, sustainable suppliers, and we do our best to source locally where possible.
We live and work in the most beautiful part of the world, Tasmania, and take much of our inspiration from the beauty of its nature. Through our partnership with One Tree Planted, we plant 5 trees right here in Tasmania, with every bedding set sold.
WASHING
Your good sheets will get softer and better with every wash. To maintain quality and longevity they should be changed every 7-10 days. Machine wash in cool to warm water with like colours and fabrics, using a small amount of good quality liquid detergent. To keep your linens bright and buttery soft simply add about half a cup of baking soda to the wash and/or half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.
DRYING
We recommend line drying. If using a dryer, tumble dry on a low heat. If ironing, use a low setting. If, like us, you think life is too short to iron sheets, you can reduce wrinkling if you remove them promptly from the machine and shake them out before drying.
STORAGE AND REPLACEMENT
Replace sheets when they show obvious signs of ageing such as fraying, stains or fading colour. Pillowcases will require more frequent replacement. To extend the life of your sheets, store them out of sunlight, in a cool, dry area and not in plastic containers which promote yellowing and mildew. To keep your linen cupboard neat and finding sheets a breeze, store each set in its matching pillowcase.
AVOID
Fabric softeners and bleach because they can degrade the fabric, reduce absorbency and shorten the lifespan of your sheets.
Contact with household cleaners and personal care products such as cosmetics as they promote discolouration.
Washing with clothing as buttons, hooks and zippers can damage the fabric.
Overloading the washing machine.
